staff and patients.Medical technology is evolving rapidly with the
development of advanced equipments having features adhering to high precision, accuracy,
reliability, biocompatibility, lightweight, etc. Performance of equipments are
critical and uncompromising in healthcare industry.
Currently, India imports around 80% of the medical
equipments used for critical care, imaging, and high-end surgeries apart from
surgical tools and devices. These equipmentswhen manufactured indigenously
carry distinct advantages, cost wiseprimarily, and also enhancing affordability.
Manufacturers are intensifying their R&D and research institutions are
supplementing their efforts in developing new and affordable solutions. For
bridging the gap quickly apart from focussing on building equipments indigenously
for local needs, it is also essential to network and collaborate with reputed
global companies to bring advancements in technology to Indian shores.Market
size of medical devices industry in India is estimated to be $5.2 billion[1]
With medical devices market projected to reach US$50 billion
by 2025,[2]
