"A nation or republic is an aspirational project. It is a dream to be. The first 10-20 years of a republic are exploratory and pace setting . A 100 years of a republic is seen as a milestone where there is a looking back to assess the change— where we were, where we have reached and where we are headed. While the young Indian Republic is still completing its 72nd year, it can be said that a lot has changed — we have collectively evolved politically, socially and economically. Everyone has defined interests, opinions and ideas on critical issues. This is an exceptional achievement! At the same time, it frequently comes across that there is a 'Binary' creation in our ways of making sense. There seems a bracketing of left-right, majority-minority, this-that, us-they. What is lost in this is the vision of a 'Continuum' — of shades and hues— of the reality that one can be extreme right on some matters and radical left on some others. Of the possibility of inhabiting multiple positions . A nation is a people’s history in making and thus a deliberative ongoing process. On this Republic day, as we enjoy our national holiday, let us reflect on the idea of being a 'Democratic Federal Republic' and celebrate the people’s Continuum.
Wishing everyone a,
HAPPY REPUBLIC DAY!!"
