Need for recognition of Power Women in the real estate industry.

The Real Woman Awards to felicitate women achievers in the real estate sector
We know India is evolving when the real estate sector is considered the second largest industry in India after agriculture. But it is also known to be predominantly run as a Man’s World for decades. However, the real estate industry has started showing significant acceptance and recognition for women to flourish and grow. And what could stop this change when women are making a mark in every niche of realty, right from raw material management to the construction and selling of marquee projects in urban cities and development of townships in the remotest corners of the country?
There have been numerous discussions and enough research to identify the gender diversity and role of women in senior positions of companies. And it has been concluded more often than not, that companies tend to perform better on a wide range of metrics when there is a higher percentage of women in leadership roles as compared to companies with a lower representation of women in the higher ranks.
With the staggering growth resulting in better organization of the real estate sector over the past 2 decades, there has also been an increase in the offering of services related to the sector. Limiting the sector to only one category of the population, in such a blooming scenario would have also limited the available resources and the talent base needed to take the sector forward. Hence, with the expansion of companies there was also a creation of an inclusive workplace culture for both men & women. Companies that opened up to diversity and built high ethical standards have been able to pick from a larger talent pool and also provide opportunities for women in bigger roles. There is now a need for a robust system to recognize these ladies in the workforce, for others to aspire and join this industry.
Realizing that these unrecognized heroes of the real estate industry need to be recognized for their perseverance, potential, skills and expertise; ‘The Real Woman Awards’ is the first of its kind felicitation event conceptualized exclusively for women who are business owners; part of the technical workforce like engineers, architects & designers; contractors, brokers, sales representatives, graphics designers etc. in the Indian construction industry. This yearly event aims to recognize the contribution of women in the construction industry while offering them an opportunity to network with like-minded people to grow their business and professional reach. The event also hosts expert sessions lined up on the lines of mentoring, grooming and coaching the attendees for overall growth and confidence to achieve success in the real world.
Given their innate qualities of empathy and persistence which helps to nurture client relations, it is actually an advantage to be a women in the real estate industry; along with their ability to bring with them a more balanced and tranquil approach. That being said, one of the reasons there is minuscule representation of women at senior positions throughout multiple industries including real estate is because they opt-out too soon. Nevertheless, as the sector moves towards maturity, we need to see more women take on leadership roles in all segments of the construction and real-estate business.
