Emirates Baggage Allowance **Update 260822

Passengers can enjoy one of the most generous baggage allowances in the world, when flying with Emirates. Your customers free baggage allowance is based on either the total amount of weight, or on how many pieces of luggage they have. This is called the weight or piece concept.

The weight concept applies to most routes. The piece concept applies only on flights to and from the Americas and Africa. Passengers allowance depends on where they are travelling, their fare, and their travel class.

There are general rules and guidelines for baggage allowance on Emirates flights. To check the baggage rules specific to your journey, and how much extra baggage will cost, click here for the latest policy and information.

If your client is an Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold, or Silver member, they could also enjoy extra baggage allowance on routes that use the weight concept. When travelling on piece concept routes, on Emirates flights only, Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold members are eligible for 1 additional piece of checked baggage at 23kg per piece in Economy Class and 32kg per piece in Business Class and First Class over the ticketed limit.

Below are important notes that will give you clear guidance on our baggage policy:

  • The passenger’s free baggage allowance will be automatically printed on the ticket.
  • If the passenger’s itinerary involves travel on another airline, the free baggage allowance could vary based on IATA’s definition of Most Significant Carrier.

In regards to excess baggage, as the passengers travel agent you can assist the clients to purchase excess baggage before they travel.

The rates can be calculated via Manage Your Booking and a Miscellaneous EMD can be issued for the total value, if completed prior to travel your customer can save up to 60% on excess baggage.  Please allow time for the EMD to be issued via Emirates. Alternatively, the passenger can complete the transaction directly online to avail of the discounts, or at check-in at the airport where the check-in rates will be charged.

Full information of our baggage policy and allowances please visit the Emirates Partners Portal or emirates.com.

Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support, for any queries please reach out to your local Emirates office.
