- Rani Kashyap from Hassen Dilruba was an intense character led by Taapsee Pannu. Kanika has showcased the Indian housewife a whole new narrative altogether. Taapsee said in an interview that she fell in love with the script and the character of Rani instantly. Kanika also claimed in an interview that I Knew Taapsee Pannu’s Rani Was Going to Rattle the Self-Proclaimed Flagbearers.
- Another unconventional character Nani Dutta from Guilty is for the speaks a lot about the society we live in. An emotional coaster a woman faces, Dhillon has expressed it really fine. It is really one of the most important portrayals of Hindi cinema. This movie has really started the conversation going about the women facing such issues in everyday lives. Guilty starts on a different note owing to the fact that the incident takes place amidst the #MeToo movement. The movement did give support and courage to many women out there to speak for themselves.
- Keeping the unconventionality, Bobby Grewal is yet another character by Kanika, and it gives us chills. The performance by kangna Ranut was outstanding in Judgemental hai kya! These movies really bring out the best of cinema. A Twisty psychodrama with another important topic of mental health being talked about in the movie. If you haven’t watched it yet, you need to see this, it gives you a whole lot of different perspectives.
- Kanika has never let us down with bashing female characters, Rumi Bagga from Manmarziya. Taapsee Pannu said in one of her interviews that, “Rumi was unsure of everything in her life. She was just so confused. I wonder how someone can be like that! But it was a terrific experience playing the part. It was written very well and I also had great co-actors who I enjoyed working with.”
Kanika Dhillon has given a whole spectrum of characters to Hindi cinema, which not only brings out the important issues of the society but also, it’s greatly expressed. Hope we keep getting to see such strong women characters from kanika. Wishing her a great 40th birthday, she has indeed more courage to keep writing such unconventional characters.
