Mumbai, June 2023: With the goal of promoting the importance of yoga in the overall
development of students, staff and faculty, Whistling Woods International (WWI)
organised a grand event to commemorate International Yoga Day 2023 amidst the
present of renowned actor, Jackie Shroff, Dr. Avinash Dhakane, I.A.S, MD,
MFSCDC and the team of upcoming Hindi TV series, Jaanaki. The event started
with the lamp lighting ceremony post which Chairman and Founder, WWI, Subhash
Ghai spoke motivationally on the value of Yoga. With a focus on breath-work,
meditation, and physical well-being, students and staff at WWI actively
participate in the yoga sessions conducted under the direction of a qualified
yoga mentor and visiting faculty, Vandana Trivedi and Digna Popat, Yoga
Instructor.
Subhash Ghai
expressed his appreciation for having the opportunity to celebrate this
auspicious day at Whistling Woods International. He emphasised how yoga has
been essential to his personal development and helped him to connect with his
spiritual side. "Yoga fills our lives with positive energy, transforming
defeats into victories. It restores our inner selves and provides a source of
serenity in the face of adversity”, he remarked.
The guest of
honour, Jackie Shroff addressed the audience in his trademark style and thanked
Subhash Ghai for helping to shape his career. He shared a light-hearted
anecdote about incorporating yoga into daily life, proposing that a simple act
like touching one's feet in the morning and attempting to increase flexibility
could be a great starting point. His
advice to everyone on International Yoga Day was, “Breath, respect everyone and
plant trees.”
The event
showcased music videos, Dhyaan Yog, Gyaan Yog and Yoga Karein Hum
illustrating the importance of practice of Yoga, which was highly admired by
the guests, and everyone present for the event.
Digna Popat, a
well-known yoga instructor, captivated the crowd with her amazing yoga
performance. The highlight of the day was Subhash Ghai and Jackie Shroff
demonstrating a few yoga poses, which exhibited their flexibility and
dedication to a healthy lifestyle.
The celebration of International Yoga Day 2023 at WWI demonstrated the institute’s commitment to promoting the practice of yoga and its positive impact on the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of the individuals, which Meghna Ghai Puri, President, WWI, emphasised on in her closing remark.
