Shalini Goyal Bhalla: Leading the Charge for Circular Economy Innovation

A post-graduate environmentalist, Shalini has been a Climate-Change visionary. She is the author of India's first book on Circular Economy- "Circular Economy- (Re) Emerging Movement". She is also the editor of India's first journal dedicated to policy, research and innovation in Circular Economy.

With a rich experience spanning over 20 years, she is a member of Niti Aayog, GOI committee on Circular Economy for C&D waste and dry waste. She is a Founding member of global Circular Economy Coalition and a member of Chatham House’s global roadmap for Circular economy. As Managing Director at the International Council for Circular Economy, she will be leading the global south at WCEF at Helsinki this year.

Her project in Green Hotels and Zero Waste Schools was awarded by UNDP and PHDCCI in 2019 at the “Himalayan Summit” in Uttarakhand. The project actively helps entities reduce their Carbon Footprint.

A Delhi University alumnus, with wide experience, she is on board of several start-ups. A founding member of WOMEN for INDIA Foundation in New Delhi, she is Sustainability Adviser to a few corporates. She is the Vice-president of the Circular Economy committee with MSME Chambers of Commerce and Industry in India. She has worked on the project on Road safety, no tobacco, environment, packaging and STEMrelated projects with international organizations like Bloomberg Philanthropies, Ford Foundation, Swiss Foundation and US Consulate, India.

She has taken up several initiatives in promoting educational opportunities, leadership development, entrepreneurship, and empowerment of youth and women. She is working with Delhi Govt on their Entrepreneurship Mindset program. A people’s person, she contributes actively to national and international publications. She has travelled extensively and has represented Indian perspectives at several international conferences.
