Jio Creative Labs along with Shraddha Kapoor urges people to make this Diwali safe for animals
This Diwali while everyone is trying to
keep safe amidst the pandemic,
JCL has used technology to spread the
message of animal safety.

This Diwali, Jio Creative Labs along with Shraddha Kapoor, took the initiative to spread the message of animal safety through a thought provoking, technology driven campaign, #Choose2Care. Right from conceptualisation to production and post-production, everything was done in house by the JCL team.
During Diwali, stray animals, particularly cats and dogs experience immense discomfort due to the continuous bursting of firecrackers. The auditory acuity of these animals makes Diwali a nerve-wracking experience for them. Taking from this insight, a film was created using Virtual Reality as a tool to enhance the impact of the message on the viewers.
The idea was to make people understand the plight of stray animals during Diwali. To achieve this, the tech team at JCL created a virtual reality interface that allowed people to experience Diwali from a stray animal’s point of view. While the interface was designed to be impactful, the safety of people was also considered and taken care of.
In a busy shopping complex, ahead of Diwali, JCL team set out to conduct this social experiment. People were informed of the video being a Diwali video but were oblivious to the fact that they were about to experience it from an animal’s point of view. The reactions captured were that of shock and awe. The experience made people realise the importance of animal safety during Diwali and educated them about the ill effects of firecrackers on street animals.
The initiative received support from Bollywood actress, Shraddha Kapoor whose voice has been used to stitch the video together. The video sheds light on how bursting fire crackers is harmful for animals and humans alike. Shraddha urges people to say no to fire crackers this Diwali. The video encapsulates the right sentiments and hits the right chords of concern. It doesn’t just educate but encourages people to take necessary steps with the hashtag #Choose2Care.

The insight was a simple one and instead of just educating people about animal safety, we wanted them to truly understand what it’s like to experience Diwali through the eyes of a stray animal. And that’s when we realised that with our current technological capabilities, we could actually make people experience the plight of stray animals. We are extremely proud that we could put technology to good use and make an impact.”
