Flower People Project: Solidarity in Bloom in Tel Aviv

In the wake of two profoundly challenging weeks across the nation, the City of Tel Aviv-Yafo is proud to display a testament to its solidarity with the people and soldiers of Israel. In recognition of President Biden’s powerful statement, “We Stand with Israel”, the “Flower People Project”, together with farmers across the country, have crafted a floral tribute to his words and the sentiment of solidarity across the free world. The work, comprising hundreds of vibrant blooms across 45 meters, was displayed at HaBima Square (Kikar HaTarbut) in central Tel-Aviv from Thursday October 19 to Saturday, October 21.

The “Flower People Project” is an initiative launched by Lihi Salpeter Danziger, a compassionate private citizen, in collaboration with generous flower growers who have contributed their bounty, as well as hundreds of devoted weavers and floral arrangers who have volunteered their time. Its mission is to support those who have lost loved ones by extending comforting floral wreaths and bouquets. In the aftermath of the recent events, many families find themselves unable to procure flowers for funerals, in many cases, of whole families. Alongside countless civilian support projects that have sprung up in the wake of this tragedy, the Flower People Project aims to fill the gap. The project provides mourning wreaths and floral arrangements to every family at no charge and regardless of location, thanks to a vast network of logistical volunteers.
