Quitx Wellness launches first of its kind app-based cessation program on World No Tobacco Day

Helps users to quit smoking and other forms of tobacco consumption
Mumbai…May 31, 2020…On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, Quitx Wellness launches first of its kind an app-based smoking and tobacco cessation program  to help users quit smoking and other forms of tobacco consumption. Quitx, the app has been developed and curated using Cognitive-behavioral and Nicotine Replacement Therapies. With the help of the healthcare professionals, Quitx has curated a 90 days cessation program that enables a tobacco user to quit and reduce his nicotine dependence from products like cigarettes, smokeless tobacco products and even bidis.
Study states that there are a total 266.8 million Tobacco users in India out of which 7% use smoking tobacco products, 17% use smokeless tobacco product users, 4% use both the forms. Due to the lack of awareness about the harm, ingrained cultural attitudes and lack of support for cessation escalates the tobacco use in the community, resulting in more than 10 million deaths yearly. Deprived tobacco cessation advice and support acts as a significant barrier for the implementation of tobacco cessation programs. 2 million people enroll for India’s quit tobacco programme in a year but 80% of these tobacco users relapse at least once when trying to quit on their own.
Francie Patel, co-founder of Quitx Wellness said, ”The first step to quitting is by recognizing and acknowledging the level of dependence on tobacco. The foundation of any cessation program is to understand the users dependence on nicotine and willingness to quit. By keeping these two parameters at the center, Quitx will make the quitting journey a lot easier. It’s an excellent platform for users who want to go cold turkey but are afraid to do so. It will help them make their choice of going cold turkey easy and stay on course by constantly conversing with them and guiding through the process until they achieve their goal.
According to a recent poll-study, 72% of India’s exclusive combustible tobacco users between the age group of 18-24 years have attempted to quit smoking during the COVID19 lockdown. In the wake of the current situation, it is essential to empower these users with the right tools and techniques that will enable them to continue their quit journey. For a high nicotine-dependent user, the probability of him relapsing is very high. If we take advantage of new cessation and harm reduction technologies we can save millions of lives from tobacco-related death.
“Quitx is focused on creating a tailored experience for the smoker during his journey. We understand that every individual’s reasons & triggers for using tobacco  are different and also their cravings and coping mechanisms need to be tailored accordingly. Algorithm-based Cognitive-behavioral therapies have been curated with the help of psychologists who understand the behavioural differences and the need for an effective and efficient program that provides real-time support.” Francie further added.
The start up is currently doing a pilot with limited audience in Mumbai. It will be soon available on the android and iOS app stores. Quitx uses a very empathetic approach in building these cessation programmes. The program uses various techniques and coping mechanisms to engage with the user through in-app interactions. It also offers personalized virtual counseling and access to a community of users trying to quit tobacco. It focuses on understanding a user's  journey, his triggers, his circumstance that led him to his addiction and then curating a quitting or harm reduction programme depending on his own goal.

cid:image001.png@01D618AC.6C140060
● Close to 30,000 learners attended the Legends on Unacademy Live Class by Sourav Ganguly
● The former Indian Captain and present BCCI President shared his real life success stories to inspire learners on the platform
Bengaluru, May 30, 2020: Unacademy, India’s largest learning platform, today conducted a Live Class for its learners by the former Captain of the Indian Cricket team and current BCCI President, Sourav Ganguly, as a part of its Legends on Unacademy program. This Live Class was a phenomenal success with close to 30,000 learners joining the session.
During the live session, which panned over 60 minutes, the renowned cricketer endearingly referred to as ‘Dada’, shared his experiences and lessons on how to stay motivated and continue to pursue dreams. Ganguly elaborated and highlighted various incidents from his life - his formative years, his journey, his role models, and his secrets to success. He also spoke about the leadership qualities that one must possess in order to achieve success in life.
Ganguly answered multiple questions asked by Unacademy learners including questions like  - ‘Which is the most memorable innings of his cricket career?’, ‘How to handle the expectations of the people around?’, ‘How can one stay consistent to reach a goal?’ and many more.
Karan Shroff, Vice President, Marketing, Unacademy said, “These are challenging times and we all need to get through this by staying focused and motivated during this phase. At Unacademy, we aim to provide a holistic learning experience to the learners that can help them work through challenges and realise their dreams. Real life lessons and anecdotes from legends such as Sourav Ganguly go a long way in helping young learners stay motivated and conquer obstacles in their budding careers. Having Sourav Ganguly teach on Unacademy has been a privilege and we are thrilled to have been able to touch the lives of thousands of learners through yet another enlightening session of the Legends on Unacademy program.”
Key tips that Ganguly shared during the Live Class:
  • Adaptability is one of the key leadership qualities. A leader should tap the natural talents of the team members. You cannot make Rahul Dravid act like Yuvraj or make Yuvraj be Rahul Dravid.
  • You have to believe in yourself to achieve what you want to become
  • Failure is a pillar to success and inevitable for everyone. You will experience it and you have to realise that there’s a better tomorrow awaiting you.
  • Preparation and self-belief can take you places
  • Don’t expect people to behave how you would like them to, let them be themselves, adapt and get the best out of them.
  • The only way to handle pressure is to live with pressure. The more pressure you handle, the better you become at what you do.
  • To be successful, you need to remain focused and know what you want.
  • You should always steer your fears away to get the best results.
  • Hard work and persistence will lead you to success.
  • You have to create your own path to success.
  • Mental discipline is important. You should not be worried about what others think of you.
  • Don’t get distracted by different opinions, stay focussed and calm.
  • The greatest of the leaders make mistakes, but as long as the intentions are right, everything else will fall into place.
  • You should learn from your own mistakes and leave them behind to be a better version of yourself.
  • Don’t let your losses get you down, that’s a part of growing up.
  • Learning from failures will lead you to success.
Earlier in March, Unacademy announced the commencement of the ‘Legends on Unacademy’ program with the idea of bringing legends from different walks of life to teach life lessons through Live Classes. In March, these Live Classes were conducted by legendary cricketers such as Brian Lara, Brett Lee and Jonty Rhodes, through the association with Unacademy Road Safety World Series. In April, renowned personalities like Shashi Tharoor, Kiran Bedi, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma and Sunil Gavaskar took Live Classes to inspire learners on the platform.

Taapsee Pannu opens up about a life-altering moment in her latest interview for Filmfare Lockdown Conversations

The ultimate destination of all things Bollywood, Filmfare, is back this week with its coveted video series, Filmfare Lockdown Conversations. Hosted by the editor of Filmfare and B-town influencer Jitesh Pillaai, is seen in a conversation with some of the A-listers of B-town, as they open up about life in lockdown. In the latest episode of the show, one of the most talented and versatile actress, Taapsee Pannu is seen in a candid chat about her journey from being a foodie to a cook, switching between Tamil, Telugu & Hindi movies, her friends, handling rejection among many other interesting things.
While talking to the host Jitesh Pillaai, she goes down memory lane to narrate a life-altering moment while she was shooting for Pink, “When I was shooting for the courtroom sequences for my movie Pink and when I said the line ‘kisko accha lagta hai ki koi chue zabardasti’ that entire interrogation between me and Mr. Bachchan there, I also didn’t realize that I wasn’t acting. By that time I had psyched myself out enough to believe that I was a victim of molestation. I was standing there in front of hundreds of people who are questioning my character right now and talking about my virginity and all those taboo things that we don’t discuss in an open court. After that scene got over and cut was called, I had already broken down in the scene and the entire audience was clapping and Bachchan sir came and hugged me. That day I realized that this can do a lot more to me than what was happening all this while. I have to keep myself open to letting it affect me. That’s what I did in most of my films after that. Every film psyches me out a little because of letting it hit me like that but the output I see is so worth it that I am okay to pay that price of being an actor.”
Watch her talk more on this along with many other facets of her life under this quarantine only on Filmfare Lockdown Conversations. New episodes of the video series release every Tuesday and Friday at 5 PM across Filmfare’s social media platforms.
