Avid Learning to host ‘Sustainability Now’ series on World Environment Day


Mumbai, May 31 2020: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Avid Learning, the cultural philanthropy arm of the Essar Group launches a series called – Sustainability NOW – as a part of their ongoing digital initiative, AVID Online. As environmental concerns continue to grow worldwide, AVID finds it imperative to shed some light on such issues and use their platform to educate and spread awareness by communicating through arts.
The Sustainability NOW series consists of targeted online episodes aimed at converting audiences into change makers and active catalysts and custodians of a greener future. In collaboration with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS), AVID has curated a week of robust programming – dedicated to World Environment Day 2020 – celebrating the champions of sustainability and environmental activism.
Showcased as ‘Environment Week @ AVID Online’, this series will be centred around the topic of sustainability and will consist of short and engaging pre-recorded AVID Online episodes as well as AVID’s first-ever live online panel discussion and masterclass, featuring leading experts from the fields of art, architecture, design, dance, fashion and film.

During the course of this week, AVID Online will present engaging episodes featuring the likes of Creative and Design Consultant/Stylist Ekta RajaniProduct Designer and Animator Shashank NimkarIndustrial Designer Malvika VaswaniIndependent Filmmaker Priya Thuvassery and Dancer and Choreographer Revanta Sarabhai leading up to World Environment Day 2020. These sessions will touch upon topics such as the emergence of slow fashion and future trends in the industry, the importance and benefits of recycling and upcycling waste and the development of eco-friendly materials, as well as, the role of the arts in spreading awareness about environmental degradation.
On the occasion of World Environment Day, AVID will present Sustainability NOW: Architecture + Urbanism – a panel discussion that explores the concepts of sustainable architecture and urban design while uncovering the systems and practices adopted by professionals in the industry that are carving out pathways to a more sustainable future and current reality. This live virtual discussion will feature – Architect and Creative Head, Mozaic Dean D'Cruz, Urbanologist and Co-Founder, URBZ Matias Echanove and Eco-Architect Trupti Doshi in conversation with Author, Architectural Journalist, Curator and Editor Apurva Bose Dutta and will look at how we can improve our building and construction processes and approaches as well as our living styles and habits in order to ensure a sustainable existence. This will be followed by AVID’s Eco Reel – Sustainability NOW: Creating Change for a Greener Future – a short film celebrating the champions of sustainability.
To culminate this week of exciting programmes, it will present a live masterclass on The Future of Textiles with Lifestyle Journalist and Sustainability Activist Bandana Tewari – which will look at emerging trends, initiatives and best practices in the textile space as well as analyse future trajectories for the fashion industry as a whole.

Covestro India celebrates World Environment Day

Mumbai, 10th June 2019:  Covestro India, a world-leading supplier of high-tech polymer materials celebrated World Environment Day by exhibiting innovative models, an outcome of activities led by the Captain Earth initiative. 
Being an internal property, Captain Earth aims to bring together employees and their family by organizing activities that focus on sustainability and various elements of the environment.
This year, the focus was to impart an understanding on single use plastics and sustainable plastics with an overarching message of saving the ocean.
Launched on World Earth Day, the activity was completed by employees and family teams who worked on models made from single use plastics that could be used as a utility or an art item. The top 3 models were announced as winners on 7th June 2019 on occasion of World Ocean Day on 8th June.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Ajay Durrani, Managing Director, Covestro India said; “Sustainability is at the heart of Covestro and that reflects in how we do business and our innovations.  With our annual property; Captain Earth, we aim to sensitize the employees and our stakeholders on each and everyone’s  responsibility towards sustainability. We will continue to make significant contribution in overcoming world’s biggest challenges and work on solutions to tackle them.”
Along with the activity, employees across sites were also engaged in tree plantation, quiz contests and awareness sessions with their families to help them understand topics such as waste management and pollution. Employees at some sites created paintings and sculptures on this topic within the plant premises.
Taking it a step further, Covestro India also launched an awareness programme on waste management focusing on circular economy addressing the stakeholders around its premises. The company organized the so called ‘Uberslashies dialogue’ in Mumbai which is a platform where students get an opportunity to interact with industry experts and design solutions for the city’s waste management. The first leg of the programme was held on 7th June at Navi Mumbai with students of an architecture college.

विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस की विषय-वस्तु - "वायु प्रदूषण" को प्रचारित करने के लिए एचपीसीएल के देश भर के कार्यस्थलों में विभिन्न गतिविधियाँ आयोजित की गई। विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस (डब्ल्यूईडी) दुनिया भर में जागरुकता तथा हमारे पर्यावरण की सुरक्षा के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा निर्धारित दिवस है। प्रत्येक वर्ष 5 जून का दिन मानव पर्यावरण पर 1972में ऐतिहासिक संयुक्त राष्ट्र (यूएन) सम्मेलन के स्मरण में विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस के रुप में मनाया जाता है।जनता के बीच जागरूकता पैदा करने के लिए5जून2019 को देश के विभिन्न कार्यस्थलों में वृक्षारोपण, वायु प्रदूषण पर वार्ता, पौधो का वितरण, बीज और जैव निम्नीकरणीय थैलों का वितरण आदि गतिविधियाँ आयोजित की गई। 
एचपीसीएल,बड़े पैमाने परदेशभर में बीएस IV एवं बीएस VI फ्यूल की शुरुआत कर “ऑटोफ्यूलनीति2025”कीसिफारिशोंकोकार्यान्वितकरहमारेदेशमें“वायु प्रदूषण”केनियंत्रणकेलिएप्रतिबद्धहै।इसकेसाथही, परिवहन क्षेत्र में सीएनजी जैसे स्वच्छ ईंधन की शुरुआत से वायु प्रदूषण को कम करने में दूरगामी  प्रभाव पड़ेगा।

In order to propagate the theme of World Environment Day – “Air Pollution” various activities were carried out at locations HPCL across the country.  World Environment Day is the United Nations day for promoting worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Every year, June 5th is celebrated as World Environment Day to commemorate the historic United Nations Conference on Human Environment held during 1972. In order to create awareness among the masses, activities like Tree plantation, Talks on Air Pollution, Distribution of saplings, seeds and biodegradable bags etc. were carried out across different locations of the country on 5th June 2019.
On a larger scale, HPCL is committed to control the ‘Air Pollution’ in our country by implementation of the recommendations of ‘Auto Fuel Policy-2025’ by introducing the BS-IV & BS-VI fuels across the country. This, coupled with the introduction of clean fuels like CNG for the transport sector, will have a far-reaching impact in reducing air pollution.
HPCL is committed to the cause of making earth greener.

Barista launches #Gogreeninitiative on the occasion of World Environment Day







Plans to distribute seeds to customers in association with Detel Foundation
Delhi, 05 June 2019: Barista – a leading coffee chain in India today launches #Gogreen initiative in association with Detel Foundation. As part of this initiative, Barista will be gifting specially packed seeds to its patrons and highlight the measures people can adopt to safeguard environment.
World Environment Day being celebrated on 5th June every year is a prominent UN platform to create global awareness and action towards environment protection. This year’s theme of Beat Air Pollution holds quite a significance.

Hungama launches ‘Beat Air Pollution’ game to raise awareness on air pollution this World Environment Day


Responsive in nature, the game is compatible with multiple devices including smartphones, laptops, tablets and smart TVs
India, 4th June 2019: Hungama, India’s leading digital entertainment company, has launched ‘Beat Air Pollution’ game in order to sensitize people towards air pollution on the occasion of World Environment Day. Developed by Hungama Digital Services, one of the leading digital agencies in India and a JV between Hungama and JWT, the HTML game is responsive in nature and can be played across devices – smartphones, laptops, tablets and smart TVs.
The game is an extension of Hungama’s ongoing support for the cause spearheaded by Bhamla Foundation, an organization that works to address health, environment and cleanliness issues. Recently, Hungama also launched HawaAane De anthem that was produced by Bhamla Foundation. Composed by Shaan with lyrics by SwanandKirkire, the anthem is in sync with the United Nations’ theme for World Environment Day.
