 1. Tumbbad

Anand Gandhi's Tumbbad had hit the screens two years ago but the horror thriller continues to be a top favourite of the cinema lovers. Being hailed as India's finest horror film, the story revolves around three generations of a Brahmin family, who build a temple and are keen to find some ancestral treasure. Even though the film wasn't over hyped in terms of publicity, it's a great watch.   

2. Lootera

Featuring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, Lootera is a historical romance film based on O Henry's 1907 short story The Last Leaf. Set in the backdrop of the 1950s, Lootera shows a young conman posing as an archaeologist who ends up falling in love with the daughter of a zamindar. Helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane, this is one under-appreciated gem.

3. Qarib Qarib Single

Starring Late Irrfan Khan and Parvathy Thirovothu, Qarib Qarib Single is not a typical Bollywood masala film. The Tanuja Chandra directorial is a classic old school romantic drama which traces the journey of two contrasting personalities. A lighthearted rom-com, Qarib Qarib Single is a great example showing how a matured love story can still be youthful.

4. Kaamyaab

One of the best works of actor Sanjay Mishra's career till date, Kaamyaab. Even though the film did not work well at the box-office, critics loved this film which shows the journey of a side actor. Helmed by Hardik Mehta, Kaamyaab beautifully shows us the flip side of the city of dreams, Mumbai. Celebrating Hindi cinema's unsung heroes, this film will always stand out for it's insightful screenplay and outstanding performances.
