About Karsh Kale:
Karsh Kale is widely considered as a pioneer of global fusion and electronica; his music influenced and characterised the early-twentieth-century club phenomena known as "Asian Massive" or "Asian Underground." Karsh's music has now transcended the underground club scene, appearing on venues ranging from Lincoln Center to the Burning Man Festival, and from the Barbican Center to the Hollywood Bowl. It has led him to collaborate with some of the world's most renowned musicians, including Pandit Ravi Shankar, Sting, Zakir Hussain, Herbie Hancock, Lenny Kravitz, Anoushka Shankar, and Yoko Ono. Bill Laswell, DJ Spooky, Shujaat Khan, Vijay Iyer, Chaka Khan, Paul Oakenfold, and a slew of more artists performed.
About MIDIval Punditz:
Gaurav Raina and Tapan Raj, both from Delhi, make up the Indian fusion band MIDIval Punditz. Their sound is mostly influenced by bhangra, oldschool jungle, electronica, and North Indian classical music. Traditional Indian instruments such as the dhol, tumbi, sarod, santoor, dholak, tanpura, tabla, surbahar, swarmandal, sarangi, sitar, and bansuri are frequently included in their songs, as are more contemporary instruments such as the synthesiser and drum machine. They've collaborated with Anoushka Shankar, Kailash Kher, Karsh Kale, Ustad Sultan Khan, Tabla Beat Science, Vishal Vaid, and Angaraag Mahanta, among others (also known by his nickname Papon).
