DPS Indirapuram celebrates World Heritage Day

DPS Indirapuram commemorated World Heritage Day with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of preserving the heritage around us. The assembly served as an opportunity to reflect on our diverse cultural heritage and promote efforts to safeguard it for future generations. Dr. R.S. Bisht, a Padma Shri Awardee and former Joint Director-General of the Archaeological Survey of India, graced the assembly. As an eminent archaeologist, he is an expert on the Indus Valley Civilization and has led many excavations to study the civilization.

The assembly began with the lighting of the lamp and a soulful classical rendition of 'Radha Krishna Namawali'. Further, a short documentary was shown to the students to educate them about marine archaeologists’ discovery of underwater remains off the coast of present-day Dwarka. The heritage club students had also put together a shadow puppet show depicting the story of Sadako and the thousand cranes, making it the show's star. At last, the assembly concluded with a power-packed Kalbeliya dance.

Ms.Priya John, Principal of DPS Indirapuram, expressed, “Through our World Heritage assembly, DPS Indirapuram endeavors to instil a sense of appreciation for our rich heritage in our students. We were honored to have Dr. R.S. Bisht, a distinguished archaeologist, grace our assembly and share his expertise. We look forward to organizing more such encouraging programs in the future.
