Oman bags Best International Honeymoon Destination Award

Mumbai, 22nd November 2019: Oman recently won the prestigious title of ‘Best International Honeymoon Destination’ at Travel + Leisure India’s Best Awards 2019 that took place on November 15, 2019 at ITC Maurya, New Delhi. This flagship event, the 8th edition of readers’ choice awards celebrated and honored best in the travel and hospitality industry and was attended by esteemed dignitaries along with opinion leaders from various industries.
On receiving the award Ms. Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Oman said “We are absolutely delighted to be recognized as the best destination for honeymoon travel, since young Indian couples these days are choosing offbeat and unique destinations for their honeymoon. Oman awarded ‘Emerging International Destination’ at the 13th Annual Today’s Traveller Awards

Mumbai, 2nd August 2019: Oman recently won the prestigious title of ‘Emerging International Destination’ at the 13th Annual Today’s Traveller Awards that took place on 29th July 2019 at Hotel Taj Palace, New Delhi. On the occasion of its 22nd anniversary, Today’s Traveller hosted an awards night where dignitaries and celebrities came together in a common spirit of fellowship and camaraderie. The publication put together a grand show celebrating the spirit of achievement in various realms.
On receiving the award Ms. Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Oman said “We are absolutely delighted to be recognized as an emerging international destination as Indian travellers are constantly looking at newer and unique locations to visit. Oman being an exotic, adventurous, historic and geologically stunning country we are seeing a lot of travellers visiting Oman for the most authentic Arabian experience.  Introduction of e-visa & short term visa, direct flight connectivity from various cities in India, newly launched luxury properties and swanky Muscat International Airport have been some of the reasons instrumental in achieving this growth.”
In 2018, Oman recorded 12.37% growth in Indian tourist arrivals with 357,147 travellers visiting the country vis-à-vis 317,844 in 2017 ranking India as the second highest source market for Oman. Keeping up with this growth trajectory, Oman has already witnessed a 17% increase in the period of January to April 2019 with 130,011 Indian visitors to Oman in comparison to 111,123 during the same period in 2018.

Middle East’s largest aquarium now in Oman


Built inside the Mall of Muscat, the aquarium is first of its kind in Oman and the largest in the Middle East covering 8,000 square meters of the mall and spanning three floors. The Oman aquarium opened doors to visitors this month showcasing around 1000 types of Omani fishes and 30,000 marine animals including sharks, lobsters, turtles, rays, local corals, penguins and crocodiles. The main tank has a walk-through tunnel for visitors to get an up-close and personal look at the variety of fishes inside. The ticket is priced at OMR 8.5 for adults and OMR 6.5 for children.
In addition to the newly launched aquarium, the Mall of Muscat also has recreational city (Fabi Land), cinema complex with 14 lounges, more than 200 retail outlets and soon to open Snow Park.
