Diwali Dhamaka from hoichoi | Content Line-up announced

A ‘hoichoi’ dhamaka this Diwali!

Kolkata, October 25th, 2019: hoichoi has planned a “dhamaka” weekend for you to enjoy this Diwali!

Today marks the return of the much hyped 3rd season of Dupur Thakurpo which is being called ‘Dupur Thakurpo Phul Toss’ starring the gorgeous Flora Saini in the lead, among others. The show was announced in a grand press conference in July and fans have been eagerly looking forward to the show’s release on hoichoi.

There is another treat lined up for the consumers of hoichoi! Goyenda Junior is getting a World Digital Premiere today within 45 days of its release and viewers can watch it exclusively on the platform.

The next two surprises come laden with thrill and drama – the thrill being Bornoporichoy – the film which brought two superstars of Bengal, Jisshu U Sengupta and Abir Chatterjee, face-to-face in this ‘whydunit’ thriller and the love spiced with drama being Pratim D Gupta’s Ahare Mon which is an anthology of 4 stories amalgamated into one mesmerising film.

Lastly, there is a new horror web series to start streaming on Halloween aptly called ‘Oddbhuturey’. The table below mentions the streaming dates of the Diwali releases and as an added surprise for the audience of hoichoi, they have revealed the content line-up of November too!

Rajat Kapoor debuts in a Bengali Web Series by hoichoi

Kolkata, October 17th, 2019: The quintessential Rajat Kapoor will debut in a Bengali web series by hoichoi this December. Sourav Chakraborty who has previously directed critically acclaimed shows like Cartoon, Japani Toy and Dhanbad Blues, returns with a Thriller this time casting Rajat Kapoor in the lead. The show also has Paayel Sarkar and Mumtaz Sorcar in pivotal roles alongside Rajat Kapoor.

The thriller starts off with Sougata (Rajat Kapoor) who is a well-known thriller writer of our times. His meteoric rise began while living in Los Angeles, with the publication of his first book ‘After

Death’. It is a rare feat for a Bengali writer, writing in English in the US. After one and a half

year, his next book ‘Death Case’ is released. Besides becoming an instant bestseller, a Production

House of Bollywood has purchased the film rights by paying five times the royalty earned by

Sougata. After this, it didn’t take long for a slim, 43 something Sougata to emerge as a popular Page 3 material. Sougata’s family comprises of his wife Aditi (Paayel Sarkar) and their daughter, Raka.

Sougata has come to Kolkata on vacation with his family. But a series of strange incidents disrupt his

plans. A mysterious girl who calls herself Sulagna (Mumtaz Sorcar) keeps appearing in front him claiming that she knows which are the parts of the two novels written by Sougata were inspired by

true events in his life. What disruption will this statement cause in Sougata’s life?

Shoot for the Untitled Thriller Web Series will commence from 19th of October and is scheduled to start streaming in December.

hoichoi is now available on PatchWall on Mi TVs

Kolkata, October 4th, 2019: hoichoi, a leading Bengali entertainment platform with over 2,000+ hours of content, is now available on PatchWall on Mi TV, India’s number 1 Smart TV brand by Xiaomi.

This partnership was announced earlier this month along with four Mi TV 4X series ahead of hoichoi’s 2-year completion in the industry. Since then, Hoichoi has been rolled out to all Patchwall users across India. All Mi TV customers across India can access their favourite content on hoichoi which offers a variety of Movies, Classics, recently released Films (as World Digital Premieres), Original Series, Music Videos and much more. hoichoi will be providing Bengali content to over 2 million customer-base of Mi TV being the sole Bengali (regional) platform on PatchWall currently.

The new Mi TV 4X (65) is the flagbearer of the new Mi TV 4X series, with a large 163.9cm HDR LED display with Xiaomi’s in-house VPE (Vivid Picture Engine), and more. hoichoi ropes in Puja Banerjee for their much-awaited Durga Puja series called ‘Paap’

Paap is a family drama-murder mystery set in Kolkata
This marks Puja Banerjee’s first Bengali web series and debut on hoichoi

Kolkata, August 30th, 2019: Durga Puja, the most popular festival celebrated in Eastern India, particularly by the Bengalis marks the battle of Goddess Durga with the deceptive and vivacious demon resulting in her victory. The festival epitomises the triumph of good over evil. To commemorate this occasion, hoichoi is bringing a family drama-murder mystery focussed web series titled “Paap” (literal translation – Sin).

The lead of Paap is starlet Puja Banerjee who is set to debut on hoichoi, making this her first Bengali web series. The show is about a powerful, independent woman who after witnessing a troubled childhood, returns to the home of her family acquaintance where she grew up. Much to her chagrin, she is greeted with hate and abuses for every terrible situation that takes place in the household while their 200-year old Durga Puja celebration goes on in the background.

Paap is about an ancient Durga Puja celebration, a family reunion, one unwanted guest, two dead bodies, a whole lot of mystery! All this happens when a stunning woman arrives in a traditional family during Durga Puja claiming herself to be one of the family acquaintances who is here to spill some long-kept secrets. Meanwhile two dead bodies are discovered with a crushed piece of paper in their mouth and in the paper there’s a strange message. Tension arises in this family with this unwanted guest and two murders. The family gets divided on basis of mistrust and suspicion and someone from outside plays the game well. The ‘Puja House’ becomes a crime scene and lots of mysteries to unveil.

Puja Banerjee, keen on collaborating with hoichoi, exclaimed, “When I heard the script of Paap, I simply could not say no because the concept is so intriguing. Working on such a project with a pleasure for me and as it is my first Bengali web content, I wanted it to be special. What can be more special than commemorating Durga Puja with a show? We, Bengali women, have grown up listening to stories of Goddess Durga hence playing a strong woman will help me shadow those learnings.”
