Shri Manoj Kotak, MP Mumbai North East conducts joint meeting regarding Ghatkopar-Vikhroli rehabilitation project


Rehabilitation tenements size fixed at 405 sq ft after meeting between officials

Mumbai, 27th August 2020: Shri Manoj Kotak, MP from Mumbai North East, conducted a site visit and a joint meeting with MCGM officials at Ward no.124 in Ghatkopar-Vikhroli Parksite regarding the rehabilitation of residents of old tenements. The purpose of the meeting was to provide swift relief to the scores of people affected by these rehabilitation projects. 

Several other high-level officials—Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Mr. Ramesh Pawar, Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Keshav Ubale, Assistant Commissioner N Ward, Mr. Ajitkumar Ambi—were also present at the meeting. The outcome of the meeting was positive with two major decisions that were arrived upon. 

1) To fix the size of the rehabilitation tenements to 405 sq. feet or carpet area of the old building, depending on whichever area is larger (including 35% fungible area).

2) Consider carpet area of 300 sq. feet for residential PAP tenements for eligible protected structures as of 1/1/2000.

Speaking on the matter, Shri Manoj Kotak said, “I am glad to have overseen the progress today, very soon, work on the project will commence as per the above guidelines. These clear guidelines will provide great relief to residents of these areas. This will also ensure that there are no more disputes regarding the matter and the spread of misinformation will be curbed. Those affected by the rehabilitation project will be the beneficiaries of these decisions.”
