Indian Hollywood-based singer-songwriter Sooraj Bishnoi re-creates Jingle Bell Rock with rock star Prabhakar Mundkur

The Mumbai-born, Hollywood-based singer-songwriter Sooraj Bishnoi comes up with a Christmas special as he re-creates the famous song “Jingle Bell Rock,” with Prabhakar Mundkur. Sooraj, who recently graduated from Musicians Institute, Hollywood with a degree in vocal performance has performed this song on the piano while he sings, with Prabhakar Mundkur on the guitar.

Speaking on associating with Prabhakar Mundkur and re-creating this Christmas special song, singer-songwriter Sooraj Bishnoi said, Prabs has been both a fellow musician and a family friend for a while - and during the lockdown has gotten savvy with home recording techniques. So when he asked me to collaborate on a Christmas song, I jumped at the opportunity. Hes a fantastic musician - and one of Indias original rock stars, so its a great honour to be collaborating with him. The idea behind re-creating this song was to get into the spirit of the season. It also showcases the fact that music crosses generational gaps. We chose this song as it has an essence of a traditional” Christmas carol, and a fun peppy number.”

On how challenging this re-creation was, Sooraj said, “The main challenge was in the vocal technique, which is a little different from my usual style of singing. Another fun element was how to break down the song from its traditional Americana” sound into just guitar, piano and vocals. It was a fun experiment and I think it came out well!”

Jingle Bell Rock is an American popular Christmas song first released by Bobby Helms in the year 1957.  The Jingle Bell Rock video can be found on all social media platforms – Instagram, Facebook, YouTube & Twitter and the fun video has received great response so far.
