Rashi Mal- Turning stones

With the entire country waiting for your film, the stakes ought to be high! Brahmastra: Part One - Shiva, is touted to be India’s most expensive film ever made, and shall have Rashi in a pivotal role, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film is intended to serve as the first film in a planned trilogy as part of its own cinematic universe called Astraverse.

Rashi’s recent project, “The Missing Stone”, had her share screen space with Barun Sobti and Bidita Bag. With the psychological thriller centred around her character, Payal, the film helped Rashi grow immensely as an artist.

In the very beginning of her journey, she had the fortune of being directed by none other than Mr. Pradeep Sarkar, in his movie titled, ’Helicopter Eela’ (2018) alongside Kajol and Riddhi Sen!

She won the best actress (viewer’s choice) at the MTV IWMBuzz awards held in November 2019.

Her first film ‘Sir’, a highly acclaimed Indo- French co-production, won The GAN Foundation award at Cannes in 2018.

Her quality of work speaks volumes about her hold on her craft.

Rashi has been trained by some of the best mentors in theatre, including Jeff Goldberg, Makrand Deshpande, Sunil Shanbag, and Divya Palat. She got her diploma in Method Acting from the Jeff Goldberg Studio and has also trained at the New York Film Academy and London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Rashi has also been seen in a number of commercially and critically acclaimed web-shows. Some of the noted ones are Pyaar Actually with YRF, Akarsh Khurana’s Boygiri, and A.I.SHA (that has seen a lot of International success and airs on the biggest TV Channel, TF1, in France).

"Hindmata – A show Of Women, By Women, For Women", on Eros Now, cemented her place in the digital domain. A coming-of-age women-centric web series, Hindmata, is an ode to the resilient spirit of women. The show comprised a cast and crew of mostly women.

She has shot for over 40 commercials for brands like Close Up, Volkswagen, Nivea, KFC, and Myntra.

A Jill of all trades, AND a master of all, Rashi is a trained Western classical singer. She trained under the opera singer Deirdre Lobo (a renowned concert artist and vocal coach based out of California) and studied song writing from Berkeley College of Music.

She is currently training under Ms. Samantha Edward, who has also coached the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Ananya Birla.

In 2020, Rashi released two of her originals, Misaal(Hindi) and Paradigm(English), which she penned and sang herself. The songs were released on VH1 and all leading music streaming platforms in the world.

Rashi has trained under numerous instructors and enjoys performing in the Latin dance genres of Salsa, Bachata, and Merengue. She also worked as a performer, instructor, and choreographer for Ashley Lobo's dance group, The Danceworx.

Over the years, Rashi has traveled the country to do a lot of stage shows in theatre, music, and other performing arts. Her curious nature and undying passion to try out new things have flown her to over 34 countries. She continues to follow her heart and explore avenues that challenge her and bring out the best she has to offer.
