Hyderabad, 26th August: The Annual International Career & College Counseling (IC3) Conference was held on 24 & 25 August 2022 at the Hyderabad International Convention Center. The event was arranged by the IC3 Movement, a global effort to establish career and college counseling in every school. This movement brings together school leaders, teachers/counselors, universities, educational organizations, government bodies, and industry to exchange ideas, collaborate and accelerate their initiatives to ably support every student to find purpose and direction through college and career counseling.
The conference hosted more than 1,250 participants (in-person and virtually) worldwide across high schools, counselors, universities, organizations, and senior leadership. The IC3 Movement also organized a Presidential Forum, which brought together presidents and senior educators of educational institutions and business, industry, and governmental leaders from around the world.
Renowned personalities such as Devdutt Pattanaik (Mythologist, Author, Illustrator), Anil Srinivasan (Pianist, Composer, Music Educator), and Aravinda de Silva (Former Sri Lankan Cricketer, Team Captain, 1996 Cricket World Cup Winner) graced the conference with an appearance.
The conference brought together higher education representatives for a collaborative dialogue on issues that drive sustainable and inclusive counseling practices focused on student success. The 2022 IC3 Institute Student Quest Survey Report was also released during the conference. The primary objective of this annual survey is to ensure that career and college counseling is data-driven, rooted in rigorous scientific research, addresses students’ critical needs, and adequately supports the stakeholders involved. More than 10,640 students, 1,110 counselors, and 111 universities from approximately 74 countries participated in the survey.
According to the report, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Canada continue to be the top 3 international study destinations.
"The survey findings indicate trends and patterns, which are essential for students, families, counselors, schools, universities, and governments to plan for the most suitable measures and interventions. These plans can then establish an ecosystem that ensures informed and judicious decision-making, supporting our youth for a purposeful and fulfilling life ahead,” said Amrita Ghulati, Director — Academics, IC3 Institute, U.S.
Report findings revealed an increased demand for data science, analytics, and humanities programs over the last couple of years. In addition, more than 51% of students either do not have counseling support at school or aren't aware of it, and 77% of the students agreed that financial budgeting information is essential in finalizing college choices.
