Celebrating Remarkable Contributions: SeniorWorld's SilverWings Awards and Seniors Got Talent


Gurugram, 22nd August 2023 – In a heartwarming tribute to honor the invaluable contributions of our esteemed senior citizens, SeniorWorld introduced the SilverWings Awards and Seniors Got Talent Competition last year. This unique endeavor showcased the exceptional talents and unwavering spirit of seniors from all walks of life. The event, culminating on World Senior Citizens Day, August 21st, celebrated the incredible achievements of seniors across various categories

The SilverWings Awards, which invited nominations from across the country, recognized outstanding accomplishments in diverse fields such as Serving the Underprivileged, Education, Health Care, Environment, Sports & Fitness, Art, Entrepreneurship at 60+, and Social Media Influencer at 60+. The response was overwhelming, with over 1000 nominations pouring in from every corner of the nation, including remote areas like Kotteri in Tamil Nadu, Balipara in Assam, and Kidei Chhepda in Chattisgarh

After rigorous rounds of interviews and evaluations, the deserving winners were selected. These remarkable seniors have proved that age is just a number and that passion knows no boundaries. One such winner is Ravi Bala Sharma, fondly known as Dancing Dadi, who at 65 defies age's limitations with her dedication to dance. An influencer, Ravi ji inspires countless individuals to chase their dreams regardless of challenges, echoing the philosophy that while the body ages, the spirit's vitality preserves youth, vigor, and aspirations.

Padma Shri Sonam Paljor, an 81-year-old mountaineer from Ladakh, was recognized for his accomplishments in Education. Having conquered peaks like Mount Everest and Nanda Devi, his focus has shifted towards empowering senior citizens. Through education in banking, technology, and moral values, he proves that age is no barrier to making a meaningful impact, serving as a beacon of inspiration to uplift communities and embrace new challenges at any age.

Another honoree, Tatiram Vishwakarma from Chattisgarh, is an exceptional artist who has mastered the art of Pitva, a celebrated iron-craft tradition in the Bastar region. Guided by ancestral influences, he began his iron-craft journey at just 14 years old. Over the decades, he has continuously pushed boundaries in tribal arts, constantly exploring new horizons.

Ramanjit Singh Oberoi, a former banker from Delhi, embraced his passion for Sports & Fitness at the age of 52, embarking on a journey of marathon running. From the Tata Mumbai Marathon to world-renowned races like the Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York City Marathons, he has achieved remarkable feats, showcasing that determination and willpower know no age limits

Dr. Akula Padmavathi, based in Delhi, was recognized for her outstanding efforts in Serving The Underprivileged through her NGO, Humana Foundation. A forensics expert, she dedicates her life to education, women's health, and child welfare. Her impactful community programs focus on improving education, healthcare, livelihoods, and the environment for the marginalized, making her a commendable force for positive change.

The event also featured the "Seniors Got Talent" competition, showcasing spirited competitions in singing, dancing, painting, and sudoku. Winners were chosen through a combination of jury votes and popular votes, highlighting the diverse talents of seniors.
