NSS Foundation Day Awards’22 Krisha Foundation

Krisha Foundation is a Public-Charitable Trust headquartered in Mumbai registered under the Maharashtra Public Trusts Act, 2016. Krisha Foundation works in diverse areas related to Financial Literacy, Investor Education, women empowerment, child education, mental health, tree plantation, water conservation, upliftment of the poor and needy etc. With a team of 350 plus qualified & experienced empaneled trainers, facilitators and academicians across India Krisha Foundation has conducted various awareness initiatives and has impacted the lives of 6 lacs plus individuals.

In the 75th Year of India's Independence, Krisha Foundation came forward to felicitate the courage of selfless leaders of the National Service Scheme (NSS) on 24th September 2022 i.e., the NSS Foundation Day. National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides an opportunity to the youth of the country to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands- on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since the inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 in various universities, colleges, and Institutions of higher learning have volunteered to take part in various community service programmes.

Smt Diya Navin Punjabi, President and Trustee, Krisha Foundation welcomed all the Directors, Program Officers and the students Volunteers. She promised that each year the trust would like to encourage the good work that NSS undertakes and Krisha Foundation is open for collaboration and working closely with NSS. She also encouraged all NSS units across India to celebrate the World Investor Week, 2022 from 10th to 16th October, 2022 which is celebrated globally by IOSCO and the national coordinator for the same is SEBI.

The Applications for NSS Foundation Day, 2022 were invited from across the country under three categories of Awards as follows:

1.      Late Pushpa Hariram Punjabi NSS NETRUTVA AWARD (University Level)

2.      Late Hariram Chimandas Punjabi NSS KARAMVEER AWARD (College Level)

3.      Late Prof Mukesh Hariram Punjabi NSS YUVA YODHA AWARD (Student Level)

Shri Yogesh Kundnani, Senior Vice President- CDSL, and Smt Neetu Juneja, Regulatory Head and Vice President- Western region of NSE, were the Guest of Honor for the Award Function

Their talk was very inspiring and the awardees were highly motivated to receive the award from their gracious hands.

Mr. Viraj Singal, Head Investor Education Awareness Initiatives Krisha Foundation thanked the eminent jury members- Dr. G T Thampi, Principal Thadomal Shahani College of Engineering Mumbai, Prof (Dr.) JW Bakal, Principal Pillai HOC College of Engineering and Technology Rasayani and Dr. Lili Bhushan, Principal KES Shroff College of Arts and Commerce, Mumbai for scrutinizing the award applications under each category. He also invited our Guests of Honor to launch the first volume of our investor education e-newsletter of Krisha Foundation titled Investor Connect aimed at enhancing awareness, knowledge, skills, attitude and behavior necessary to make sound financial decisions and ultimately achieve financial well-being.

There were over 1500 applicants for all three award categories and every one of them had accomplished extraordinary work. It was a very challenging task to arrive and a decision, however, after a lot of deliberations, 11 participants were selected for Netrutva Award, 36 participants for Karamveer Award, and 50 participants were selected for Yuva Yodha Awards.

Krisha Foundation congratulates each and every volunteer and everyone associated with NSS for their selfless service and all those who believe in the Motto of ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’
