Apollo Leads the Charge in Breast Cancer Awareness with a Series of Impactful Initiatives

Over 6,000 Individuals Participate in Activities for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October

Navi Mumbai, October 28, 2024: Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai (AHNM) has successfully led a comprehensive #TalkPink campaign to raise breast cancer awareness and emphasize the importance of early detection throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. Through various initiatives, AHNM engaged more than 6,000 individuals through community and corporate programs, screening camps, webinars, health talks, patient support events, and a robust social media awareness drive.

AHNM undertook extensive outreach to the local community with free health talks and mammography screenings, benefitting over 500 people. Additionally, the hospital hosted doctor-led sessions on cancer and women’s health at several corporate offices, impacting more than 4,500 employees. As part of these awareness initiatives, a "TalkPink" walkathon was organized on October 26th, with over 70 Navi Mumbai citizens taking part in the event. Furthermore, the hospital extended its support to breast cancer survivors, with wellness activities such as candle meditation, physiotherapy, face & foot massages during the patient support event attended by more than 40 survivors across Mumbai city.

Dr. Nita Nair, Lead Consultant in Breast Surgery at Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, underscored the importance of such awareness initiatives, stating, “One in 22 women in India is at risk of developing breast cancer. Early detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes. However, approximately 40% of women come to us in advanced stages, making treatment more challenging. Breast cancer awareness is therefore crucial. Apollo Hospitals is the only center in India that offers a breast cancer diagnosis within 24 hours through our Fastest and Most Precise breast cancer diagnosis program (FAMP). This personalized approach ensures rapid and accurate diagnosis if any anomalies are found during clinical exams or imaging.”

Mr. Arunesh Punetha, Regional CEO-Western Region, Apollo Hospitals, further highlighted the hospital’s dedication, saying, “At Apollo Hospitals Navi Mumbai, we are steadfast in our commitment to the fight against cancer. We stand with our patients from the beginning of their journey, providing unwavering support and exceptional care. Our facilities offer comprehensive screening services, including specialized women’s health check-ups for early detection and timely intervention. Through our new Apollo Health Check on Wheels initiative, we are expanding our reach, allowing individuals to access health screening at their doorsteps. By partnering with corporations, we aim to make health check-ups accessible for employees, while also providing community members with opportunities for early detection. Additionally, our Women’s Cancer Clinic, staffed entirely by female specialists, creates a supportive environment for women seeking care.”
