Heritage Meets Innovation: India Showcases Its Fashion Potential at the BRICS+ Fashion Summit

New Delhi, 3 October, 2024 - Moscow has once again become a hub for fashion industry professionals, with this year's BRICS+ Fashion Summit promising to be the most extensive yet. Scheduled from October 3 to 5, the Summit brings together delegations from over 100 countries, representing more than three-quarters of the world's population.

A key focus of the BRICS+ Fashion Summit is the development of cooperation among BRICS nations, particularly between India and Russia. Sunil Sethi, Chairman of The Fashion Design Council of India, emphasizes the potential for Indian designers in the Russian market: “India’s presence in the Russian fashion market presents immense potential. Russian consumers are increasingly gravitating towards unique, handcrafted fashion pieces that tell a story, and India’s rich heritage of textiles, embroidery, and design perfectly aligns with this trend. Indian designers can leverage platforms like the BRICS+ Fashion Summit to enter the Russian market with collections that blend tradition and contemporary appeal.”

The BRICS+ Fashion Summit is evolving into a vital platform for sharing experiences among emerging countries. Collaborative efforts between India and Russia are paving the way for growth in the fashion industry and strengthening relationships among emerging key players.

A standout feature of the Summit is the exhibition ‘Heritage’, which showcases a modern interpretation of traditional crafts from designers across more than 40 countries. The event takes place in the heart of Moscow, near Red Square—an iconic cultural and tourist landmark—solidifying the city's reputation as a promising platform for young talents from emerging nations.

Moscow Fashion Week, taking place in parallel with the BRICS+ Fashion Summit, features over 80 Fashion shows from both emerging and established designers. Notable participants will include India’s NITIN BAL CHAUHAN presented by the Fashion Design Council of India, China’s KENSUN, and Indonesia’s RAEGITAZORO.
