The first edition of HELLO! Hall of Fame Awards - South celebrated excellence across industries and recognized artists, professionals and establishments at a star-studded night

In a first, Hindustan Zinc deploys India’s first ever Battery-Operated Vehicle into underground mining operation

-          Hindustan Zinc is the first company among its peers to join the EV revolution, steadily switching to electric vehicles for its underground operations

-          The company will invest USD 1 billion for converting all diesel-run 900 odd mining vehicles to battery operated ones

Udaipur, XX, XXXX, 2023: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Indian mining sector, Hindustan Zinc, a Vedanta group company, has introduced Normet Agitator SmartDrive EV, into its underground mining operations. The company will soon expand its BEV fleet with Normet’s Explosive Charger (CHARMEC MC 605 V SD) and Concrete Sprayer (SPRAYMEC MF 050 VC SD). Hindustan Zinc is the first company among its peers to join the EV revolution, steadily switching to electric vehicles for its underground operations. The company has set a target of converting all diesel-run 900-odd mining vehicles into battery operated ones over the next five years and has earmarked an investment of over USD 1 billion for the same.

Hindustan Zinc, together with the Finnish technology company Normet Group Oy, has inducted battery-powered service equipment and utility vehicles into underground mining to help decarbonize and improve environmental sustainability in the mining industry. Each of the Normet SmartDrive EVs are based on a modular Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) architecture that is designed to optimise energy consumption and performance in underground mining, including tunnelling applications. The SmartDrive EVs enable higher productivity, lower operating costs, and, most importantly, zero emissions. The BEVs have been inducted at the company’s Sindesar Khurd (SK) Mine which is a world class silver-rich mine with state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities and best-in-class mechanisation.

Commenting on the induction of the EVs, Mr Arun Misra, CEO, Hindustan Zinc, said, “Our aim at Hindustan Zinc is to revolutionise underground mining, boost productivity, raise underground safety standards, and provide sustainable operations solutions. Hindustan Zinc will gain considerable benefits from the adoption of Normet SmartDrive EVs, including significant HSD savings and vehicle maintenance. These SmartDrive electric vehicles are powered by 90kWH lithium-ion batteries and come equipped with myriad advanced technologies such as energy recuperation technology, hydraulic dual-circuit oil-immersed brakes to provide additional braking power, etc. The vehicles also have the advantage of zero-emission in the operating environments, considerable noise and vibration reduction associated with equipment. In addition to that, BEVs comes with high-efficiency driveline and consumes less kWh/ km compared to diesel ones.

Hindustan Zinc is a pioneer in the sector, continually deploying transformational and sustainable technologies in pursuit of sustainable mining. The introduction of the EVs serves as yet another decisive step for its sustainable and smart operations goals. New Delhi | Chennai – Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has strengthened its product offering for the Construction and Mining sector  with the BharatBenz 3532CM mining tipper, 2832CM mining tipper and 5532 Tip Trailer. The entire truck model range is on display at Bauma CONEXPO India 2023 in Greater Noida. The new model range comes with a more powerful 320 HP BSVI diesel powertrain, providing high wheel-end torque required to negotiate tough, gradient mining roads. The vehicles come with industry-leading body capacities, benefiting customers in the mining sector. Also on display at the exhibition was the new BharatBenz 48T rigid tipper and 28T RMC.

BharatBenz offers a wide range of tipper products starting from 6-wheeler 13T medium duty trucks to 22-wheeler 55T trucks (tip trailers). These trucks are used in extensive applications including surface construction, mining, irrigation/tunneling and intra-city distribution. BharatBenz’s new generation products are transforming the RMC (ready mix cement) application with engine-driven PTO solutions suiting every concreting requirement.

"The Economic Survey 2023 provides an optimistic picture of India’s growth performance and outlook, amidst looming global recessionary concerns. The economy has largely recovered from the pandemic, with GDP likely to grow at 6.5% in FY2024. Robust domestic demand and a pickup in capital investment are likely to steer growth. Interestingly, inflation is now within RBI’s target, after a year of measures to curtail it. In 2022, the RBI increased the repo rate by 225 basis points.

Out of the 50 cities surveyed, the survey states that 46 cities registered an increase in the index, whereas 4 cities experienced a decline, on an annual basis. All eight major metros of the country witnessed an annual increase in the housing price index. Going ahead, housing prices remain stable led by steady demand likely to be seen in 2023"

The period care startup is growing month on month and recorded a revenue of more than INR 35 Million over the last quarter of 2022. Lemme Be is now looking to clock an ARR of INR 360 million by the end of this fiscal year 7X growth from March 22 ARR (Annual Revenue Run Rate).

Driven by multiple factors, it is now eyeing a significant uptick in revenue this year by expanding its sales channels both nationally and internationally. Along with constant product development and innovation, the brand is adding new products to its portfolio every month so that it caters to the needs of its customers. Additionally, the inclusive period care brand has extended the loyalty of its existing customers with repeat buys - in December 2022, the brand grew 50% over November 2022.

15th Feb Last Date for Applications for AMET 2023 (Amrita MBA Entrance Test); Test to be Held on 25th Feb & 5th March 2023

Mumbai, 31st January 2023: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham ranked 5th Best Overall University by NIRF 2022 offers MBA programmes at Amrita School of Business in Amaravati, Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Kochi campuses. The university conducts the Amrita MBA Entrance Test (AMET), and the last course application date is 15th Feb 2023. AMET will be a computer-based test. The national level online entrance test will be held on 25th Feb and 5th March 2023 across 40 centres in India.

Candidates having a UG degree (10+2+3 Pattern), recognized by AIU (Association of Indian Universities) with a minimum 50% aggregate in 10th, 12th and UG c are eligible to apply Students in their final year can also apply subject to the completion of their examinations and viva-voce, if any, before June 30, 2023.

The entrance test will be of 150 minutes conducted in computer-based mode for a total of 100 marks (03 marks for correct answer & -1 mark for the wrong answer).  There will be 25 questions from four sections: verbal reasoning & language comprehension, data interpretation & analysis, general knowledge of Indian & global scenarios, and quantitative aptitude.
