THE FEATURE FILM IS ALL SET TO HIT THE SCREENS ON 26th JANUARY, 2024
A sports biopic and feature film on the life of the pride of India, a sportsperson who fought against all odds to win titles for our country, Indian long-distance runner, Lalita Shivaji Babar has been announced this Republic Day with a poster reveal. The film is scheduled to release 1 year from now, i.e. on 26th January 2024. The lead of the film will be played by ‘Chandramukhi’ actor, Amruta Khanvilkar. Planet Marathi and Endemol Shine India have collaborated to produce the film.
Lalita hails from a small village in the district of Satara, and the film will follow her trials and tribulations of being an Indian woman in the cut-throat world of sports. Bollywood and Marathi actress Amruta Khanvilkar commented on her role in the film “I have never been so excited to play a role like I am for this biopic. Lalita’s life is an inspiration for all sportspeople and women, who showcase indomitable strength and move ahead in life fearlessly. It will be challenging and physically demanding to play a sportswoman, especially a runner. I am looking forward to start shooting for the film and doing 100% justice to this role. My aim will be to bring her emotions and thoughts behind the tough exterior to audiences and make her journey as relevant as possible to citizens of our country”
For now, only details regarding the lead actress have been announced. The film is scheduled to go on floors soon. The biopic is scheduled to be a Marathi language film. Sharing his thoughts on the film announcement, national award winner Akshay Bardapurkar, Founder and Producer, of Planet Marathi shared “We have worked with Amruta in the past and she is an excellent actor who leaves no stone unturned to give her best to any role she plays. This film will be our first sports film and first-ever biopic and our team is putting in tremendous effort to make the film a huge success”

The film is produced by Akshay Vilas Bardapurkar, Rishi Negi, Gaurav Gokhale and Ronita Mitra. The rest of the details of the film will soon be revealed by the makers.
