Bigg Boss 14 Synopsis_Weekend Ka Baar_Saturday episode

Salman Khan reprimands Rah Vaidya for his 'nepotism' comment on Bigg Boss

Weekend Ka Vaar

The week that went by was nothing less than a rollercoaster ride with wild card entries, nomination task and the Tabaadla task that brought different traits of each contestant to the fore . Some contestants could manage to sail through the difficult week whereas some got stuck in their own confusions and game plans. The nomination task did not prove to be fruitful for Rahul who passed comments on Jaan being a product of nepotism. Love, friendship, betrayal and controversy were all played out this week. Now it's that time when the host comes on to take stock and clarify the misunderstanding among all the contestants.

In tonight's episode, Salman Khan schools Rahul Vaidya for targeting Jaan Kumar Sanu and calling him a product of nepotism. Salman questions Rahul for his statements and explains that he was in the wrong and shouldn't have used those words. Salman explains to Rahul that if a parent does something for their children, it cannot be labelled as nepotism. He further adds that if Jaan had become a singer because of nepotism, he would have been more successful than Rahul. Salman also questions Rahul by asking him if his children decide to pursue singing as a profession, would he call that nepotism? Salman gets very disappointed with Rahul and takes a firm stand on the nepotism debate and calls it unfair. He also says that no one in the industry can force anything on their kids. Will Rahul understand and accept this mistake?

Next in line is Rubina Dilaik who has been claiming ‘Hinsa’ all through the week. Salman bursts her myths on her game plan and the ‘Hinsa’ that she claims her co-contestants indulge in while doing a task. Salman Khan questions Rubina’s actions and asks her about how she makes her and others’ life difficult by making tall claims? Rubina tries to explain herself but finds herself out of words. Salman explains to Rubina that when she provoked Jasmin to throw water on Rahul, was also an act of ‘Hinsa’ which was totally unnecessary. When Rubina continues with her arguments, an exasperated Salman asks Rubina to run the game show on her own and walks out!

Will Rubina apologize to Salman? Or will she still fight back? Will Rahul apologize for his nepotism comments against Jaan?

Regular Consumption Of Foods Rich In Omega-3s, Including Walnuts And Fish, Can Reduce Risk Of Death Three Years After Suffering A Heart Attack

New Delhi, October 30, 2020–A new study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology found that regular consumption of foods rich in omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), found in marine foods like fatty fish, and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), found in plant foods like walnuts, was associated with improved outcomes in individuals who suffered a heart attack, including decreased risk of death. Additionally, the consumption of both ALA and EPA provided the greatest benefit, suggesting a synergistic effect and unique protective qualities when both types of omega-3 are consumed.

The observational study, supported by the California Walnut Commission and reinforced by an editorial in the same publication entitled “A Revolution in Omega-3 Fatty Acid Research,”included 944 participants who experienced a very serious heart attack in which one of the heart's major arteries was blocked. Clinicians refer to this as a ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), but consumers may be more familiar with the term “widow-maker” heart attack.

A lead researcher in the study, Dr. Aleix Sala-Vila, Research Associate at IMIM (Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute) and Barcelona βeta Brain Research Center, explains, “Heart attacks are still very common, and aside from treatments to keep the patient alive, researchers have been exploring approaches to secure the quality of life of the patient after the heart attack. What is novel about this research is that it shows that ALA and EPA appear to be partners in improving the long-term outcomes of heart attack sufferers. Consuming both marine and plant-based omega-3s, from foods like salmon, a walnut, and flaxseed, seems to offer the greatest protection.”

The patients in this study, whose mean age was 61 and were made up of 78% men, had their blood taken during hospital admission. The researchers then determined the level of omega-3s in their blood,a reliable way to establish the intake of omega-3s during the weeks leading up to the heart attack. Next, they explored whether those with higher blood levels of omega-3s at the time of the heart attack were at decreased risk of suffering complications during a three-year follow-up period.

Specifically, the researchers found that those who showed higher blood levels of ALA were at decreased risk of three-year all-cause mortality. Also, those with higher levels of EPA were at decreased risk of death or needing hospital readmission for cardiovascular reasons.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) is the leading cause of mortality in India. This epidemiological transition is largely because of the increase in the prevalence of CVDs and CVD risk factors in India. In 2016, the estimated prevalence of CVDs in India was estimated to be 54.5 million. One in 4 deaths in India are now because of CVDs with ischemic heart disease and stroke responsible for >80% of this burden. These diseases tend to affect patients in the most productive years of their lives and result in catastrophic social and economic consequences.

Commenting on the outcomes, Padmashri Dr. Mohsin Wali, Eminent Cardiologist said, “Walnuts have long been recognized as a heart-healthy food1 firstly backed by more than thirty years of research showing positive outcomes related to cardiovascular health such as cholesterol, blood pressure, inflammation, endothelial function and plaque formation. Walnuts are also the only tree nut with an excellent source of plant omega-3 ALA, providing 2.5 grams per 28 grams. In order to live a healthy life, one must make changes in the diet, by pledging to eat fruits and vegetables at every meal and choose snacks and recipes with heart-healthy ingredients such as walnuts. Adding 28 grams or a handful to the daily diet regime is a critical component for a healthy happy heart.”

While these results are encouraging, they do not prove cause and effect. Additional research is needed to determine whether EPA and ALA intake specifically contributed to the outcomes, or if other factors like socio-economic status, education, and pharmacologic treatments also had an effect.Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, another omega-3 supplied by fatty fish) was not part of this study.

The California Walnut Commission (CWC) supported this research. The CWC has supported health-related research on walnuts for more than 30 years with the intent to provide knowledge and understanding of the unique health benefits associated with consuming walnuts. While the CWC does provide funds and/or walnuts for various projects, all studies are conducted independently by researchers who design the experiments, interpret the results and present evidence-based conclusions. The CWC is committed to scientific integrity of industry-funded research.

The California walnut industry is made up of over 4,800 growers and more than 90 handlers (processors). The growers and handlers are represented by two entities, the California Walnut Board (CWB) and the California Walnut Commission (CWC).

California Walnut Commission

The California Walnut Commission, established in 1987, is funded by mandatory assessments of the growers. The CWC represents over 4,800 growers and approximately 90 handlers (processors) of California walnuts in export market development activities and conducts health research. The CWC is an agency of the State of California that works in concurrence with the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA).

1Supportive but not conclusive research shows that eating 1.5 ounces of walnuts per day, as part of a low saturated fat and low cholesterol diet and not resulting in increased caloric intake, may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. (FDA) One ounce of walnuts offers 18g of total fat, 2.5g of monounsaturated fat, 13g of polyunsaturated fat including 2.5g of alpha-linolenic acid- the plant-based omega-3.

Zee TV:“I enjoy Abhishek’s company, he's extremely entertaining,” says Anjum Fakih

The talented actress plays Shristi in Zee TV’s Kundali Bhagya

As we stepped into the new normal as the lockdown rules were relaxed, Zee TV resumed shoots of its popular shows and reconnected its audiences with the journeys of their beloved characters. Kundali Bhagya, which has been the top-most show of the Indian Television industry, also offered a rather interesting twist to its viewers after its comeback. The wedding drama in Karan (Dheeraj Dhoopar) and Preeta’s (Shraddha Arya) lives kept the audience on the edge of their seats. In fact, the new entry of Pawan (Ankit Gupta) created havoc in #PreeRan's (as they are fondly addressed) life as he along with Mahira (Swati Kapoor) kidnapped Preeta.

Post the kidnapping sequence and the drama surrounding it, the audience was in for a sweet and romantic treat as Karan - Preeta surprised everyone with a romantic dance sequence. While the audience seems to adore Karan and Preeta's onscreen jodi, another adorable onscreen couple that has caught the viewer’s attention is Shristi (Anjum Fakih) and Sameer's (Abhishek Kapur) jodi. The duo looks sizzling together and their chemistry is something viewers love to watch. While they share a great bond onscreen, Abhishek Kapur and Anjum Fakih have developed a great camaraderie off-screen as well. However, did you know that they weren't friends initially. In fact, having started their relationship on a strictly professional note, they didn't become friends for nearly a year. Lately, the duo has started to bond a lot and have become extremely close buddies.

Talking about their equation, Abhishek Kapur who plays the role of Sameer in Zee TV's Kundali Bhagya revealed, “I have massive respect for Anjum. I remember when I shot my first scene with her for Kundali Bhagya, she made me feel extremely comfortable as I was quite nervous. In the beginning, our bond was limited to professional note and it was strictly a formal equation. Anjum and I weren't friends for nearly six to seven months after we started shooting. We never even got the chance to hang out with each other. However, our friendship became stronger during the second year of Kundali Bhagya as we started to know each other and chill with each other. I have spent lot of time with Anjum off-screen now and we really enjoy together a lot and are the best of friends.

Anjum Fakih also added, “Abhishek, I feel is very reserved as a person and it takes him time to get comfortable, especially in new environments. Me being the bang opposite of him, helped ease out the situation for both of us. While initially we never got to hang out, I only had immense respect and love for Abhishek, and I admired working with him. He’s such a great actor and he has been slaying in the role of Sameer. I must say that our bond started getting stronger once we started to spend time with each other off screen and I enjoy Abhishek’s company a lot. He's very entertaining and fun to be around and I consider him one of my closest friends.”

While Anjum and Abhishek bond offscreen, their equation in Kundali Bhagya is also getting stronger by the day. After PreeRan's marriage, what will happen ShrishMeer's life?

Zee TV:When Maera Mishra’s first negative character got her teary eyed on the sets of Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega

Zee TV’s popular fiction show, GuddanTumse Na Ho Payega, has been a favourite amongst TV viewers and the interesting story around Guddan (Kanika Mann) and Akshat’s (Nishant Singh Malkani) love life kept them intrigued and entertained for the past couple of years. It recently took a 20-year leap and showcased the tragic death of Akshat and Guddan and post the leap, the show now revolves around the ups and downs of their daughter, ChotiGuddan’s life. Essayed by Kanika Mann herself, ChotiGuddan finds her hero soon after the leap. Agatsya, the character played by Savy Thakur, is all set to give her all the happiness that she deserves. But standing in her way is Nia, who is Agastya’s soon going-to-be-wife.

Essayed by television actress Maera Mishra, Nia is a grey shaded character who although appears to be a kind and soft-hearted person to the world, is actually quite the opposite. The negative character is all set to turn ChotiGuddan's life upside down and while the actress (Maera) was beyond thrilled to portray her first ever negative character, it seems like the role’s requirements might have left her a bit overwhelmed. The actress who is anything but like her character, found it hard to emote the exact emotions and animosity that her character goes through. In fact, Maera got so affected that a particular sequence got the actress in tears.

Narrating her experience, Maera who plays the role of Nia in GuddanTumse Na Ho Payega mentioned, “We shot for a particular scene where I am yelling and scolding a kid to eat her food. As unbelievable it might sound, but I actually began crying by the end of this scene because I am not really a person who raises my voice, and neither can I tolerate someone else doing it. We had to shoot a couple of retakes because I kept getting teary eyed. In fact, my GuddanTumse Na Ho Payega director and the young girl that I was shooting with were trying their level best at not making me feel bad about the sequence.”

Adding further, Maera said, “This character being my first grey shade is pretty challenging for me and I am giving in my 100 per cent to do justice to the character. In fact my mom, who was earlier convincing me to play positive shades only, recently appreciated my performance in GuddanTumse Na Ho Payega and that honestly has given me quite the boost to explore this side of myself.”

While our sweet Maera is busy planning and plotting tragedies as Nia in ChotiGuddan’s life, she is unaware of the twists that are set to come in her own. As Nia and Agastya’s wedding kicks off in full swing, will the latter finally be able to express the feelings he has for ChotiGuddan?

To know more, tune into GuddanTumse Na Ho Payega every Monday to Saturday at 8 pm only on Zee TV!

INDCON 2020-2021 emphasis on creating a robust Research & Development ecosystem to enable Aatmanirbhar Bharat

  • The three- day virtual conference was organized by IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Knowledge Committee in association with MIT-World Peace University, Pune
  • 11 Cities…11 conferences...12 engaging topics..32 engaging sessions and over 150+ Industry and Academia experts

INDCON 2020-2021 focuses on development initiatives in India and how the educational institutions can play an intrusive role in making several industry laterals and economic sectors, self-reliant and progressive. The platform addressed the need for value change through R&D establishment at universities.

The introductory discussion explored that a good opportunity lies in institutes having a dialogue with relevant industries to understand current needs and future requirements. A suitable change in the syllabus to include robust and hands-on exposure will ensure relevant and updated changes to make students future-ready.

The panellists at INDCON 2020-2021 highlighted that India can develop implementable solutions with R&D that are advanced and global in the standard. “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” is expected to become a dream come true as R&D intervention will be launched much earlier and educational institutions will become an integral part of the nation's wider socio-economic ecosystem. It is encouraging to know that research, innovation and creative ideas will help the country achieve its national goals as well as larger concerns confronting humanity today.

Mr. Rajiv Potdar, President, IMC Chamber of Commerce saidThe introduction of vocational training, the merger of UGC and AICTE, flexibility of subjects across streams, 5 + 3 + 3 + 4 structure and multi-lingual education in the new education policy 2020 is a significant milestone that will change India's educational landscape. This will open an ocean of opportunities for collaborations between industry and academia. A good partnership between the two would promote creativity and generate an industry-ready workforce and thus contribute to the $5 trillion economy goal.

Mr. Pravin V Patil, Chief Executive Officer, CIAP, MIT WPU said“R&D projects are conducted at campus level in the west and gradually efforts are increased with companies partnering to make the product happen further. Whereas R&D facilities are still available at an industry level in India right now, and product developers are further working with a global partner to bring it to fruition. With INDCON, we aim to promote the thought of driving R&D initiatives via universities into the economy. This conclave is a flag off journey to recognize the loopholes and requirements and make them available to develop a sustainable Industry-Academia ecosystem.”

Representing the automotive industry, Mr. Jayanta Deb, CTO MG Motorssaid“It is important to recognise that a corporation may invest in the creation of a product, but the brain that will produce the product needs to be built first at an educational institution with the right amount of experience, infrastructure and exposure. Refinement is possible only after the ball is set rolling on the right course and that is something that academicians and technology educationalists need to ponder upon and become inclusive of R&D as an advanced offering.”

Today, industries are looking for ready-made knowledge. Time and revenue expenditures for R&D are massive, and not every organisation has the capacity to do so. The INDCON panellists agreed that the introduction of R&D exposure at the university level will strengthen the ecosystem of institutionalised skills development, advanced research, and technology-driven innovations.  This would enable a huge upsurge of world-class start-ups and entrepreneurs to build new livelihoods across the country.

Bharti Foundation ensures contactless distribution of textbooks

Close to 15000 students from 81 schools received books

28th October 2020: To ensure there was no disruption in learning during the COVID-19-induced lockdown, which overlapped the start of the new academic session in April 2020, Bharti Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises, developed and implemented a meticulous procedure of contact-less distribution of books.

Several changes were made to the process of disseminating education, especially for students in remote areas of India. In Satya Bharti Schools, teachers used various means to send daily learning activities to students. Class-wise and subject-wise WhatsApp groups were created, and online material and apps were shared with students. However, access to textbooks for the new academic session was essential to supplement their learning process.

Close to 15,000 students from 81 schools in Punjab received textbooks for the new academic session through contact-less distribution.

Precautionary measures were taken at every step. Staff members involved in book distribution were given a 7-point document of instructions on COVID-19 precautions to follow while carrying out the task. These included instructions on keeping material ready two days prior to distribution, safe delivery of books to schools and parents, sorting of books, procedural planning and monitoring, etc. The process was carried out after prior intimation to local DMs, BEOs, and the Panchayats.

Parents of students were called to schools in separate time slots to collect books while strictly maintaining social distancing and mandatory sanitation guidelines. In a day, a maximum of 60 parents were allowed.

Teachers ensured that 10 to 15 book bundles were kept on desks before parents came to collect them. Staff members also ensured COVID-19 safety norms were followed by parents of students after they went back home. Even though all books were sanitized, parents were advised not to handover them to their children for a minimum of three days.

Binu Nair, Chief Program Operations, Bharti Foundation said, “It has been our constant effort to provide rural children access to quality education especially during COVID-19 induced lockdown. We at Bharti Foundation ensured that every child stayed engaged with education, while being at home. Book distribution is one among many initiatives. The team came together to ensure every child received textbooks maintaining the COVID-19 guidelines.”

About Bharti Foundation

Bharti Foundation was set up in the year 2000 as the philanthropic arm of Bharti Enterprises. It implements and supports programs in primary, secondary and higher education as well as Sanitation. The flagship Satya Bharti School Program provides free quality education to thousands of underprivileged children in rural India across six states, with a focus on the girl child, since 2006. The impact of quality education has been scaled-up by transferring the learning and good practices of this program to lakhs of students studying in government schools across several Indian states and union territories, through the Satya Bharti Quality Support Program, since 2013.  Satya Bharti Abhiyan, the sanitation initiative since 2014, has been improving sanitation conditions in the districts of Punjab by providing access to toilets and by fostering behavioral change in communities. Together, the Foundation’s programs have cumulatively impacted over 2 million community members.
