First virtual business lab for management students in Rajasthan

·         JK Lakshmipat University unveils first-of-its-kind business lab in its Jaipur campus

·       It was inaugurated in the virtual presence of  Mr H.P. Singhania, Vice Chairman & MD JK Paper Ltd, Mr Neeraj Kapoor, Director, AIMA and Dr Ajay Data, Founder & CEO, Data XGen Technologies along with Dr R L Raina, Vice Chancellor, JKLU and Prof Asheesh Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor, JKLU

Jaipur, July 31, 2020: In the times of COVID-19 pandemic when the education has become online and the future of education completely depends upon experiential learning, leading higher education institute JK Lakshmipat University, in collaboration with All India Management Association (AIMA), today unveiled the first-ever virtual lab for management students for business stimulation exercises.

Dr R L Raina, Vice Chancellor, JK Lakshmipat University, in his his welcome address, mentioned that the BizLab will expose students to real economic, environmental and business issues related to finance, operations, marketing and other business functions and that with the support of AIMA, it can develop and evolve as the most effective learning tool for management in times to come.

The digital business laboratory was inaugurated virtually by Chief Guest of the event, Dr Ajay Data, Founder & CEO, Data XGen Technologies, in the presence of dignitaries including Mr H.P. Singhania, Vice Chairman & MD, JK Paper Ltd, Mr Neeraj Kapoor, Director, AIMA, Dr R L Raina, Vice Chancellor, JKLU and Mr Asheesh Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor, JKLU.

JKLU’s Pro ViceChancellor, Prof Asheesh Gupta said, “For us, the establishment of the  AIMA Biz Lab at JKLU, the first in Rajasthan, marks a very purposeful milestone. There is conclusive scientific evidence that we learn best by doing. Management education requires being able to integrate principles and theories with business realities allowing learners to practice these in near-real-life situations - learning that cuts through functional silos – exactly as problems rarely come packaged as purely marketing or organisational or finance problems. The purpose of our MBA programme, beyond imparting domain knowledge, is to help students learn how to integrate and use knowledge that is available and to be life-long learners. The AIMA Biz Lab, is a strategic step in this direction because AIMA also brings the advantage of being industry and market backed and understands the management students’ capabilities.”

Mr H.P. Singhania, Vice Chairman & MD, JK Paper Ltd., said, “Higher education today should be able to translate into employability or the ability of people to do things. They should be able to become useful and contributing members of society. A broader degree of knowledge and skills can be obtained from an interdisciplinary programme, whereby people can come out with more useful skills rather than mere technical knowledge”.

Echoing the sentiments of Mr Singhania, Mr Neeraj Kapoor, Director, AIMA, said education has to be contemporized. “Being stuck with knowledge in single field or aspect is very detrimental for students. They should be industry ready and have the ability to take up challenges. In such unprecedented times, we need to be innovating all the time. Education should be such that it should prepare us for crisis management, and we need to look at management education in a different way, using the four pillars of using technology, skilling yourself, having an entrepreneurial mindset and continuous learning. The idea of the business lab is to expose the students about what is happening to the management world. It would be enhancing their capability and aiding their learning.”

Adding more on the technological boon the country is witnessing currently, Dr Ajay Data, Founder & CEO, Data XGen Technologies, said, “We are in a very unique situation. If you look at the startup ecosystem in the past, the most valuable startups were those who could solve a large problem. Today we have thousands of problems and technology is helping us solve them more conveniently. More than 80 percent of the people are conveniently working from home today. Events are getting delivered online. I was shocked when I saw bhajan and kirtans on visual meetings. This is the new normal for us. Same is with education. People who haven’t updated themselves are getting left behind. Education has become more inclusive and we need to create more hirable and ready individuals from universities. With AIMA, we have lot of industry knowledge that will come in and it will help bridge the gap in academics.”

Dr R L Raina and Mr Asheesh Gupta thanked and congratulated all the dignitaries, faculty, staff and students for being a part of the milestone in JKLU’s academic advancements.

Is your face mask safe for you and your family?

It is safe to say that the global pandemic has turned our world upside down and changed the notion of what was considered normal. Not only health, its impact can also be seen on various businesses tools. While the pandemic has caused losses for several industries, it has also given rise to newer opportunities. Makers of masks, PPE kits, sanitizing and disinfecting solutions are among the few products that have gained the spotlight. This has created an opening for small and mid-size companies to grow and for large companies to diversify. While this is a wonderful opportunity, it has also given rise to a rat race for others in the health and hygiene space and various companies producing masks are spreading misinformation about the materials and technologies they are using which can be toxic or carcinogenic in nature and can lead to serious health concerns in the long run.

ASK THESE FIVE QUESTIONS BEFORE CHOOSING THE MASK:

  1. Is the mask certified or compliant with any applicable regulatory standard?
  2. How credible is the testing protocol against SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 and the reports from independent testing agencies / laboratories, and what modifications have been made to the testing protocol? - ISO 18184 is the internationally recognized standard to determine the antiviral activity of textile products.
  3. What is the durability of the antiviral performance – how long can it be used for with such performance, how many washes can it sustain, how long does the performance last from date of manufacturing and/or opening the package?  - The ISO 18184 protocol requires that the mask be washed 10 times before testing – has that been complied with?
  4. How safe are the antiviral agents used – if the performance isn’t durable, why is that so? Does it claim to not leach chemicals?
  5. If there are any Antiviral claims then, has the technology been approved for use in this area, has it passed bio compatibility tests, and is there safety data.

We are standing at a juncture where our lives are not just at risk due to the pandemic but also the protective equipment, we are using to shield ourselves from the virus. It is high time
that we realize that the masks readily available in the market are not just spreading misinformation, but also, they are carcinogenic in nature. Some products have 10-20% of benzalkonium chloride or commonly known as BAC. Studies by scientists have reported respiratory toxicity of BAC. Exposure to BAC induces cytotoxicity and DNA damage in the human bronchial cell line and acute or repeated inhalation of BAC induces lung irritation, inflammation, and alveolar damage. Some brands are admittedly using a reaction mass of Titanium Dioxide and Silver Chloride in its products. Fraudulent claims of corona killer masks are also doing the rounds. Use of Titanium Dioxide, the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) has stated that it is a suspected carcinogen associated with lung cancer if inhaled by human beings. During the pandemic, this is shameful and blatant profiteering, attempting to take advantage of consumers that are not equipped with accurate information. In a developing country like ours with its enormous diversity, there is a lack of regulation and Government oversight and these false claims can harm the lives of hundreds of millions of people.

Masks that we are commonly using are causing more harm to our health than we can imagine. Hazardous chemicals, high silver, titanium, zinc or other leaching chemicals with heavy metal content are dangerous and can lead to potential health risks. Moreover, there is no evidence / test results conducted by the companies that suggests that the masks have any antiviral properties whatsoever. There is a serious risk of death the more such chemicals are inhaled into your lungs. Certain companies have been miscommunicating and overstating their performance data as well as withholding this important safety information, thereby misinforming users and jeopardizing their health. It must be kept in mind that N95 is not meant for COVID protection. WHO asked healthcare workers to wear N95, which has efficacy of trapping particles 300 nanometres or larger. The average size of COVID particles is 120 nanometres. The need of the hour is an effective antiviral mask that can kill and deactivate the virus and also is completely biodegradable, without causing any cross contamination to ensure complete safety.

A few weeks ago, on 17th of June, India, experienced a scientific revolution that was the need of the hour to safeguard humanity and return to normal life. Switzerland based Livinguard AG launched their face masks in India, a one of its kind mask that can directly inactivate bacteria and viruses, including 99.9% of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 /COVID-19 virus. Currently, these masks are Made in India, by Indians, for India.  Researchers from Freie Universität Berlin and ITA RWTH Aachen, two of the most globally reputed academic institutions in virology and textiles, have confirmed the efficacy of Livinguard’s self-disinfecting technology that permanently destroys the coronavirus when applied to textiles and is permanently bound (non-leaching) to the fabric. Scientific results have followed on similar findings from The University of Arizona, Tucson and are especially relevant now as countries gradually ease lockdown restrictions and populations seek a return to the next new normal. Livinguard remains committed to its battle against COVID-19 with its masks currently being used by law enforcement and frontline workers on a global scale, protecting those most vulnerable in the battle against COVID.

It is not just physically the unmitigable ecological damage from these non-biodegradable waste. Masks have become an integral part of our lives and are vital in battling the COVID-19 crisis, but most of them need to be disposed of daily, especially by healthcare workers. This waste is slowly piling up an environmental crisis. Delhi and other metros are still lagging in the systematic collection and disposal of this waste, which further poses a risk to the health of sanitation workers.  While there is a lot of messaging on using masks while stepping out, making masks at home etc. there is still a lot to be done in building awareness on proper disposal of single use masks so that these don’t end up as litter on streets, in dumpsites or bodies of contaminate water. Scientists have estimated that by 2050, there will be more plastic by weight in the oceans than fishes but considering the huge spurt in plastic and single-use consumption in the form of PPE, masks, gloves, protective body bags, this may happen earlier. We are left with a horrifying tale of environmental destruction when we calculate the number of disposable masks with a population of 130 billion.

We make entrepreneurs out of employees by developing their skills and abilities: Atul Malikram

We in PR24x7 created around 100 PR entrepreneurs in North India

In this age of competition, everyone wants to come across as a winner. We consider everyone to be our opponent, whether he is a friend, batchmate, or a business partner. This is a human tendency that motivates you to give your best in every work you do. It not only improves your dedication but also increases your efficiency.

In this stiff race where everyone wants to lead a better and successful life, it is very difficult to find those who support you. It is very seldom when someone provides you an opportunity to make yourself better or help you move forward in your career. If you look around, you will come across many people who got their jobs because they are familiar with the company and its people. Forget being an entrepreneur, there are many times when you could not even get a satisfactory job.

In this situation, you must find an opportunity or an institution that can teach you the skills to become an entrepreneur and at the same time offer you a job. PR24X7, a well-known PR company in Indore will offer you such ample opportunities. Atul Malikram, the founder of PR24x7 says that “Not everyone is born as a learned being. Most of the time people are looking for a chance to prove their capabilities. The objective of the company is not only to hire good employees but also to train them, into skilled entrepreneurs. This is why you can see nearly 100 PR companies come into existence in North India.”

Further, he adds, “Whether it is Purvi Communication, Raj communication, Ritu communication, Star communication or Saar communication, they all have learned from us and are running their own companies successfully. And it gives us immense pleasure and encouragement to see our people succeed in their lives."

“I want to gift a song to Neha &Sonu Di,” reveals Tony Kakkar on Rakshabandhan special episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li’l Champs

Zee TV’s popular singing reality show, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs has won the hearts of all its viewers yet again post the lockdown. Be it the grand comeback episode on 18th July or the mythological-special last weekend, the supremely talented contestants mesmerised the audience with some phenomenal performances. This week, the viewers are in for an even more spectacular treat as the popular Kakkar siblings - Neha Kakkar, Tony Kakkar and SonuKakkar will grace the show and encourage the contestants in a Rakshabandhan special episode. But that's not it! The upcoming episode will also witness a heartfelt moment amongst the siblings as they go on to share some of their secrets and the amount of love and respect they have for each other.

Taking the Kakkars on a trip down memory lane was none other than contestant Ranita Banerjee who gave a beautiful rendition to two songs sung by Tony Kakkar and Neha Kakkar themselves; ‘Oh Humsafar’ & ‘Mile Ho Tum Humko’. Recalling the memories behind the songs, an emotional Tony revealed how the music piece was actually a surprise gift for his sister, Neha. The duo also went on to then credit the presence of their elder sister, Sonu who has been nothing less than a rock solid pillar in their life. Beginning her musical journey on a spiritual note, SonuKakkar began pursuing her dream towards music at young age by singing at Jagratas in Rishikesh. It was later that Neha and Tony joined her, and this sibling trio traversed from Rishikesh to Mumbai to finally live the dream they were longing for since their childhood. While they faced challenges in their journey, no storm was big enough to even put a scratch on this power sibling trio. As they climbed the ladder of success to reign over the hearts of millions with their peppy tunes and melodious voices, the siblings believe that its their solidarity that has really held them together every step of the way. Overwhelmed while recalling the support and strength that his sisters have been all along, Tony said he will record a song with his sisters very soon as a gift for their steady support. He also shared, “I feel extremely blessed that I have these two rock solid women of substance to fall back on. Ever since we embarked on the path of music, my sisters were the stars of the show and rightly so. I gained immense joy to be able to even take part in the chorus. They have always provided me with a sense of belonging which is why I probably never felt left out between them. Neha and Sonu have been there through all my big and small hurdles and have taken great care of me so much so that  I owe all my success to them. I would be a nobody if it weren’t for having these incredible women on my side. They inspire me.”

Adding to her brother’s heartfelt words towards their elder sister Neha shared, “I say this with pride, that Sonu Didi is our backbone and I look up to her. I remember she used to work so hard and keep pushing herself, just so that we get a better life. From travelling via buses to singing till she drops at Jagratas, she has done it all for us.
