New Delhi, April 30, 2021: The country’s leading manufacturer of Earthmoving and Construction Equipment, JCB India today announced a 10 day pause across all its manufacturing facilities in India. The company has cited the rising number of COVID cases for this temporary suspension.

Mr Deepak Shetty, CEO and Managing Director of JCB India said,

We have decided to pause manufacturing operations for 10 days, starting 1st of May 2021. This is a precautionary measure and applies to all our manufacturing locations at Ballabgarh, Pune and Jaipur”

We do not foresee any challenges in the availability of JCB products for our customers in India or for our export markets. All our customer and dealer facing functions will operate normally, while adhering to local guidelines. There will be no disruption in product support for equipment being used by our customers due to this pause”

“JCB has a wide dealership network with over 700 outlets across India. We have invested significantly in digital technology across our operations. Our advanced Telematics technology also helps customers manage their fleet and get alerts on Service, Operations and the Security of their machines on their mobile devices”

He further added.

“It is important to break the chain of the infection. Most of our employees in our offices are already working from home and this temporary pause of Manufacturing activities will further help in lowering the active number of cases in and around our Manufacturing Facilities.

Reliable coloration of ultra-high-performance concretes thanks to Bayferrox pigments from LANXESS

• Inorganic pigments certified for use in UHPC

•Enhancing the attractiveness of this sustainable construction material

Cologne, April 30, 2021 – Ultra-high-performance concretes (UHPCs) are reckoned to be the construction material of the future. When they are colored, however, you have to ensure that the prescribed compressive strength of more than 150 megapascals is still achieved. The iron oxide pigments from LANXESS’s Bayferrox brand are perfect for UHPCs, as has been verified by the association of German cement manufacturers (VDZ) based on an analysis of compressive strength conducted to DIN EN 12390-3.

“Architects and clients can have every confidence in our high-quality pigments for coloring UHPC,” says Oliver Fleschentraeger, Market Segment Manager Construction of the Inorganic Pigments business unit at LANXESS. The iron oxide pigments come in red, yellow, and black, with numerous color nuances possible within these shades. “As far as we know, Bayferrox pigments are the only iron oxide pigments on the market that are specially certified for use in UHPC,” says Fleschentraeger.

Pressure-resistant, colorful, and environmentally sound

The quantity of materials used is a key metric when it comes to assessing a building’s carbon footprint. Not only the choice of materials but also the production chain and construction process are also crucial. So to save materials and energy and to reduce CO2 emissions during manufacture, planners and architects are increasingly using highly sophisticated high-performance components made from UHPC. In addition to the enormous resource savings of up to 80%, material-friendly designs reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the manufacturing phase by up to 30%. “A significant and pleasing side effect of UHPC is its high resource efficiency, which makes it easier for engineers to meet the demand for sustainable designs,” says Dr. Michael Olipitz, a certified expert in the fields of superstructure, bridge-building, steel structures and structural engineering, and General Manager of the engineering office SDO ZT GmbH based in Graz, Austria. Inorganic iron oxide pigments can provide long-lasting visual enhancement to these structures or even effectively contextualize them with their surroundings – without affecting the rheology or flow behavior of the concrete.

Delicacy and solidity go hand in hand

One spectacular architectural application of colored UHPC is the Museum of Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean (MuCEM) in Marseille, in the south of France. With the exception of two glazed facades, the museum – including most of the roof – is encased in a lattice-like concrete structure comprising concrete panels just 10 centimeters thick. The French architect Rudi Ricciotti made a conscious decision to color the concrete dark gray to lend the building its own identity within its surroundings and as a stark contrast against the color of the facade. The precast concrete elements were colored with Bayferrox 330 and Bayferrox 318 from LANXESS.

Another benefit of the high-quality Bayferrox pigments is that the concrete, once colored, retains its characteristic texture and exhibits subtle color nuances, lending the surface a natural appearance. In addition, there are no layers of paint that can flake off of the surface through wear and weathering. Even if the surface is slightly damaged, the color remains as vivid as ever. This is why iron oxide pigments are the perfect choice for coloring ultra-high-performance concretes, which, with a projected lifetime of more than 150 years, are around twice as durable as conventional concrete.

~ Sets up extended hospital at Kishore Bharati Krirangan (Jadavpur Stadium) ~

Kolkata, 30th April 2020: Medica Superspecialty Hospital, the largest chain of private hospitals in Eastern India has come forward in the hour of need amidst the devastating second surge of COVID and added 200 beds in a record time of 72 hours. In a major augmentation in recent history, Medica opened the doors of its extended hospital at Kishore Bharati Krirangan (Jadavpur Stadium) to meet the increasing demand for beds. Currently Medica Superspecialty Hospital houses 267 COVID beds in its Mukundapur facility including 132 ICU/HDU beds, 122 general beds and 12 under suspected ICU/HDU & triage. This addition of further 200 beds will alleviate the suffering of many who are running from one hospital to another in search of beds. The facility was started in the august presence of Dr Alok Roy, Chairman Medica Group of Hospitals & Chair FICCI Health Services Committee along with other officials from Medica.  This great initiative is supported by ITC Limited which has generously funded this noble endeavour.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Alok Roy, stated, “It is in the best interest of the citizens that we took up the gargantuan task of setting up this satellite unit within just 72 hours as time is life at the moment. We sincerely thank the Government of West Bengal and ITC Limited who have come forward and sought our expertise and help to save as many lives as possible. These 200 beds will additionally address the need for HDU and ward patients with full support from our esteemed doctors and trained staffs. While we are there to provide the care, I would urge all citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible as it is the only way forward to fight COVID 19, and to keep maintaining strict COVID protocols of wearing masks and maintaining social distance. Humanity has been challenged of its very existence during the second wave in India and we as equal stakeholders with the Government stand by them during these testing times and we must overcome and let life live freely again.”

Arif Najeeb, spokesperson from ITC Limited, said, “The unprecedented medical crisis created by the second wave of Covid 19 pandemic has resulted in an exponential surge in the demand for healthcare facilities. This has led to an acute shortage in the availability of beds at the hospitals for the treatment for Covid 19 positive patients. To contribute to enhancing availability of covid healthcare facilities in Kolkata, ITC is humbled by the opportunity to support the setting of 200 to 300 beds medical facilities in Kolkata with Medica Superspecialty Hospital for the treatment of Covid 19 positive patients and administering vaccines.”

As a responsible caregiver serving humanity for over a decade, Medica Superspecialty Hospital has been in the forefront in the fight against COVID-19 and all the frontline warriors and clinicians are working tirelessly to treat every patient with utmost care. At Medica Hospitals, doctors are fully geared up to administer maximum COVID vaccinations a day to support the Government in achieving its target of administering 500 million vaccines by July 2021.
