Q2 2024: Received the Highest Institutional Investments in a Quarter Post-Pandemic, Dominated by Foreign Investors - Vestian

New Delhi, 13th July 2024: The second quarter of 2024 witnessed institutional investments of USD 3.1 Bn, registering a sharp increase of 96% over the same quarter a year ago and 464% over the previous quarter. As the world economy is stabilizing amid geopolitical challenges, investors actively participated, resulting in the highest institutional investments in a quarter post the pandemic.

Foreign investors accounted for the highest share, 71%, of the total investments received during the second quarter of 2024 as they flocked to India to capitalize on its robust economic growth. On the other hand, domestic investors accounted for around 20% share of the total investments in Q2 2024, which has declined significantly from 98% a quarter earlier. However, investments in value terms have increased by 18% over the previous quarter.

Shrinivas Rao, FRICS, CEO, Vestian said, “Indian real estate sector garnered significant investments in the second quarter of 2024, dominated by foreign investors as the looming uncertainty over the major economies of the world has faded away. Moreover, domestic investors have also actively participated to capitalize on the robust economic growth.”

Industrial & Warehousing sector reported a single large deal worth USD 1.5 Bn, accounting for 48% of the total investments received in Q2 2024. The deal concluded between Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), KKR, and Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL). Residential and commercial (office, retail, co-working, and hospitality projects) assets followed with 24% and 20% share, respectively.

A yearly decline of 56% during Q2 2024 in commercial investments (in value terms) was due to the conclusion of a major deal between GIC and Brookfield during Q2 2023.

Multi-city deals accounted for 61% of the total investments reported in Q2 2024, followed by Mumbai and Hyderabad with 13% and 12% respectively. KKR, ADIA, GIC, Xander, Blackstone, Mitsui, Nisus Finance, SWAMIH Fund, and HDFC Capital were some of the more prominent investors during the current quarter.

Mr. Rao further added, “Investments are anticipated to increase in the upcoming quarters on the back of robust economic growth and infrastructure development.”

RHI Magnesita seeks policy measures for refractory raw material supply security of India

Joins India-Austria Business Meet during PM Modi’s visit to Vienna

Offers to support domestic secondary raw material development through circular economy solutions

New Delhi, July 12, 2024:
 RHI Magnesita, the Global leader in the manufacturing and supply of refractory products, systems, and solutions, has appealed to the Government of India for strategic policy initiatives to diversify the sourcing of critical refractory grade minerals to ensure raw material supply security for the sustainable growth of the country. This was pressed upon by Gustavo Franco, Chief Customer Officer of the company, during the India-Austria Business Meet held recently as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Austrian capital, Vienna. The company has also requested policy measures to restrict the environmentally harmful landfilling of used refractories and to promote recycling, which in turn ensures the availability of secondary raw materials for the industry and contributes towards building a circular economy.

Parmod Sagar, Managing Director and CEO of RHI Magnesita India Ltd. said, “Refractory products and solutions are critical for production of steel, cement, glass, aluminium, energy and all such products that require high temperature manufacturing processes. India, purely for geological reasons, lacks domestic sources for critical raw materials like refractory grade Magnesite and Alumina. With very high import dependency, it is imperative to have a diversified sourcing network for supply security to ensure long term sustainability of the Make in India drive.”  

India is already a pioneer in recycling in the refractories sector due to its low reserves of raw materials. However, there is still enormous potential, as thousands of tonnes of used but valuable refractory material is thrown into landfills. Landfilling is not only extremely damaging to the environment, but it also results in the enormous waste of precious raw materials. The company has asked for preventive policy measure on landfilling. This would protect the environment, level up the reuse of important raw materials and push recycling. The entire industry - including the steel industry in India would improve CO2 footprint while ensuring further raw-material security through circular economy solutions.

Parmod reiterated that RHI Magnesita India is fully aligned with PM Modi’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and will continue playing a crucial role in India’s growth story. The company has committed approximately 400 mEur (Rs 3600 Cr) of phased investment by FY 2026 to build and modernize its production capacity in India. Out of this, it has spent about 300 mEur in last 2 years in India for building local capacity. It now has more than 500,000 tons of local refractory production capacity in India.

PINEWZ Empowers Communities with Innovative AI and Hyperlocal News Workshops in Telangana, Kashmir, and Guwahati
