Ramayan 2008: The process of removing the sindoor was more exhausting than applying it: Vikram Mastal on playing Sindoori Hanuman

~ For the first time viewers will get to witness ‘Sindoori Hanuman’, a never seen before chapter in Ramayan ~

Mumbai, 30 July, 2020: In 2008, Anand Sagar created Ramayan starring Gurmeet Choudhary, Debina Bonnerjee and Vikram Mastal as Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Hanuman respectively. For the first time viewers will get to witness ‘Sindoori Hanuman’, a never seen before chapter in Ramayan in Anand Sagar’s Ramayan which is running successfully on Dangal TV.

Talking about the creation of Sindoori Hanuman, Shahab Shamsi, Creative Head, Ramayan, said, “Until now people had not seen a ‘Sindoori Hanuman’. This is one ‘Roop’ of Hanuman which people are aware, but it was never shown anywhere. So, we decided to give the Hanuman ‘bhakts’ a chance to watch the persona of Hanuman in real time. The challenge was to paint actor Vikram Mastal with sindoori color which was a painstaking process and a great challenge for the make-up team and to sustain the make-up throughout the shoot. It became a problem for Vikram to not sit anywhere or touch anything because the makeup would get spoilt.”

Vikram Mastal, who essayed the role of Sindoori Hanuman, said, “The makeup team applied nearly 4 kilos of sindoor mixed with ghee on my entire body. The process of applying the sindoor nearly took 2 hours. I had to make sure, I don’t touch anything as it could spoil the sindoor. When the shot was over, the makeup team took 8 hours to remove the entire sindoor. The process of removing the sindoor was more exhausting than applying it.”

The chapter of Sindoori Hanuman emphasizes on the importance of Hanuman’s affection and love for Lord Ram. For the longevity and happiness of Lord Ram, Hanuman thought that applying Sindoor all over his body would make Lord Ram immortal.

Anand Sagar’s Ramayan is entertaining million viewers once again.
