and French designer, Elodie Le Derf, noticed not just the lack of brands for
kids but the dearth of simple styles, creative prints, subtle colours and
patterns for them, especially with organic fabrics. ‘Born’ from a need for
exclusive kids wear, especially for boys, which is a rare find in the city.
Tapping into the ever-growing textile market, Elodie launched Born, a brand
that boasts of French design, organic Indian fabrics, and embroideries,
creating the perfect amalgamation of modern clothing with a unique look for
newborns, toddlers and small children.
Born
designs are exclusively for children. The soft organic fabrics, mellow yet
fresh colours, artistic prints, and precious detailing, have a rare innocence
that showcase a poetic simplicity and unparalleled comfort and style. The
collection showcases hi-quality fabrics such as cotton linens, light cotton
silk voile, different organic cottons, silks and dobby. The range covers baby
essentials, rompers, bodysuits, shirts, t-shirts, tops, bottom-wear and
dresses. Each piece of clothing is created with the finest all-natural or
organic fabric ensuring that a child’s soft skin isn’t introduced to any harsh
materials. Such is the founder’s commitment to conscious luxury that the
recently launched knitted collection and most of the woven collection, is
certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard. The sustainable
luxury brand now aspires to create clothing and accessories from recycled
fabrics, so as to do their bit for the planet too.

founder’s love for traditional fabrics, fine embroidery and intricate

Born’s flagship store is located in the heart of Bandra, the eclectic
interiors for which are designed by ace French Chef and Interior Designer,
Antonia Achache, who has also invested in the venture. The interiors embody the
Paris-Mumbai ethos of the brand, featuring chic Parisian interiors paired with
eclectic pieces sourced from vintage markets and shops. The store features two
separate spaces. An area for kids wear, and a level featuring babywear, that is
designed around the concept of a kids bedroom.
The brand also plans to develop a
collection of accessories, décor and furniture for kids and babies.
