To,
Shri Amit Shah Ji,
Hon’ble Union Minister
Ministry of Home Affairs
Government of India
North Block, Central Secretariat
New Delhi 110 001

Respected Shri Amit Shah Ji,
Sub: Recent Amendments in Law related to Hit & Run Case.
Firstly, on behalf of the Entire Business Community of Maharashtra we seek this opportunity to Wish Our Beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, your good selves & Entire Cabinet Ministers of Modi Sarkar a Very Happy Prosperous, Progressive New Year 2024. We are sure that under your all leadership we will be reaching towards our goal of re-establishing Ram Rajya in our Bharat.
Sir, FAM along with its members welcomes the recent changes in the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 1860, Criminal Procedure Code 1973 & Indian Evidence Act 1872. This has resulted in freeing yourself from the British Colonial Laws which were reminding us of our pre-independence era.
Sir, all the above 3 laws have been replaced by our own laws namely Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) & Bhartiya Sakshya (BS). The aim is to give our own citizens a constitution which is for their betterment & progress.
However, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (BNS) the laws framed are more stringent as it gives power to arrest the driver under Hit & Run Case & sentences to jail for 10 years & also monetary fine of 7 lakhs. This has resulted into a fear among all the transport drivers - rixa, taxi, truck, trailers etc and they have stopped their work and are leaving their jobs too. We are enclosing a detailed letter from one of our members - Bombay Goods & Transport Associations for your immediate reference.
