Ather Energy confirms entry into 4 more cities – Ahmedabad, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Kolkata

 Bengaluru, India, 20^th February, 2020: Ather Energy recently launched the disruptive electric scooter Ather 450X in India. With this new offering, Ather had confirmed its entry into 4 new cities beyond Bangalore and Chennai at the time of launch. Now with high demand pouring in from other cities, Ather has further confirmed its entry into 4 new markets.

In January, the company had confirmed its launch in the following markets basis the demand received for the scooter- Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad. Since the national launch, Ather has received thousands of pre-orders from across the country, with key cities like Ahmedabad, Kochi, Coimbatore & Kolkata taking the lead.

The four new cities will see installation of fast charging infrastructure in the coming months, followed by the delivery of the scooters. Ather 450X can be pre-ordered via the company website for a fully refundable INR 2500. Ather has also been receiving dealership requests from these cities which will make it easier for the company to rapidly expand. 

The Ather Forum has been abuzz with requests for the company’s community engagement programs to begin in cities beyond the metroes. Consumers in the new cities can expect to see meet ups and test rides being conducted in their neighborhood in the coming months.Along with fast public chargers, Ather 450X owners will receive home chargers, Ather Dot so they can conveniently charge their scooters at home.

Ather enters the next phase of expansion, signs MoU with TN Government for a new factory in Hosur

Chennai, December 1st, 2019:  Ather Energy has signed an MoU for a 400,000 sq ft electric vehicle manufacturing facility with the Government of Tamil Nadu at the Investment and Skill Development Conclave in Chennai. Ather Energy has already announced its plans to expand to 30 cities in the next few years and this MoU will help scale up production plans for the same. The built-up factory will be located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu and is supported by the government of Tamil Nadu under its EV Policy.

This MoU comes on the heels of a big push for electric two-wheelers by State & Central Governments with an updated FAME policy, GST reduction, and benefits for taxpayers on loans for electric two-wheeler purchase.

The facility will not only cater to the EV manufacturing demand but also for Ather’s lithium ion battery manufacturing which is a key area of focus for the company going ahead. The investment is an opportunity for value creation in the sector and will create job opportunities for the region. More than 4000 employees will be trained in requisite skills in the EV sector as a part of this initiative over the next 5 years.

Ather Energy opened pre-orders in July 2019 for Chennai and pre-orders till December are full. The third batch of Ather 450s are now available with deliveries expected in February - March '20. The company has been offering test rides at their experience centre, Ather Space in Wallace Garden Street, Chennai.

Ather has also been investing in setting up fast-charging infrastructure in Bengaluru & Chennai. Currently, Chennai has ten fast charging points and more will be added in the coming months. First on the road: Deliveries for the Ather 450 begin in Chennai

The automaker began deliveries of its scooters today, marking their expansion in a new market

 

Chennai, October 19th, 2019:  Ather Energy began deliveries of their flagship scooter Ather 450 today in Chennai. The week will see nearly 100 scooters being delivered to Chennai consumers, along with the new compact home charger, Ather Dot. Mr. Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO handed over the keys to the enthusiastic owners at Ather Space, Chennai.

Ather has been investing in setting up fast charging infrastructure in Bengaluru & Chennai. Currently, Chennai has ten fast charging points and more will be added in the coming months. The company recently signed an MoU with the Chai Kings to add charging points to their 30 outlets across Chennai. EV owners will find the first couple of Ather Grid Points at Chai King outlets at Porur and Ekkattuthangal. With the multiple fast public chargers set up by Ather, 450 owners will have charging available both at home and free charging across the city until December 2019, enhancing their ownership experience and reducing range anxiety.  Chennai EV owners can find charging points across the city, from Bikes & Burgers in Kolathur, to Forum Vijaya Mall, Vadapalani all the way to East Coast at Madras Square on ECR

Ather Energy opened pre-orders in early July 2019 for Chennai. Pre-orders till December are full, and batch 3 is now open and one can get their Ather 450 in February  - March '20. Ather celebrates the inauguration of its new experience center at Wallace Garden, Nungambakkam

Chennai, July 24, 2019: After the successful launch of Ather 450 and 340 in Chennai earlier this month, Ather Energy, has officially inaugurated, ‘Ather Space’, the Ather experience center at Wallace Garden Road, Nungambakkam on 24th July. The inauguration was led by a group of enthusiastic Ather customers, who wanted to be the first ones to experience Ather Space. 

Ather Space was designed to educate customers about electric vehicles while providing a holistic experience in an interactive space. The company inaugurated the first experience center in Bengaluru in June 2018 and opened the second one in Chennai today. Chennaites can now ride the Ather 450 and get an in-depth view of the product and features before pre-ordering the vehicle. Customers can also book test ride slots on the website prior to visiting the experience center.

The Wallace Garden experience center is designed to be a dynamic, tactile and interactive space. The center’s design and user experience has been improved based on Ather’s learnings from the Bengaluru Ather Space and the Chennai center is twice in size of its Bengaluru counterpart. Customers can learn about every aspect of the vehicle and witness the engineering and mechanical efforts that have gone into manufacturing it through a naked scooter up on display. Apart from seeing the key components of the scooter, one can learn and interact with the intelligent and connected features through a digital display.

Ather began accepting pre-orders for Ather 450 in Chennai on 9th July and since then have received a phenomenal response from customers and are sold out till the end of the year. The brand has a thriving community, Ather Forum in its launch cities. The inauguration by consumers instead of company officials is a recognition of this ardent following of the community who are making an active choice of going electric.

The on-road price of the Ather 450 is INR. 1,31,683 and Ather 340 will be priced at INR. 1,19,091 in Chennai. The price includes the regulation 2 helmets, along with the FAME 2 subsidy and other basics like insurance, road tax, GST, and other fees.

Ather Energy expands to Chennai: Launches Ather 450 in its second market

Company opens pre-orders in Chennai along with free Ather One subscription

Chennai, July 09, 2019: After a successful run in Bengaluru, Ather Energy officially began accepting pre-orders from consumers for its Ather 450 in Chennai. This is the second city the company is entering after its commercial launch in June 2018.  Ather’s flagship scooter has seen great traction from owners and reviewers and has changed the market's expectation of two wheelers.

Last weekend, Ather offered early access test rides to its followers in Chennai and showcased the 450 prior to its official launch. The event was focused on the Ather community that the company has built and had fifty Bengaluru owners travel to Chennai to share their ownership journey. This pre-launch event saw resounding response and the Ather 450 has already sold out till November in Chennai. The company is now opening pre-orders for its second limited batch of deliveries.

The on-road price of the Ather 450 is INR. 131,683 and Ather 340 will be priced at INR.119,091 in Chennai. The price includes the regulation 2 helmets, along with the FAME 2 subsidy and other basics like insurance, road tax, GST, and other fees.

The company is increasing the production capacity of its manufacturing facility to ramp up deliveries in Bengaluru and Chennai. The waiting period for the vehicles has come down enabling faster deliveries to customers in the last month.

Ather Energy raises $51Mn in the latest round of funding led by Sachin Bansal

May 28, 2019, Mumbai: Ather Energy, India’s first intelligent electric scooter manufacturer, raised an investment of $51 Mn in its latest round of funding, led by Sachin Bansal’s investment of $32 Mn. Ather Energy was one of the earliest start-up investments of Sachin Bansal when he invested $0.5 Mn in the firm as an Angel investor in 2014. Hero MotoCorp has converted its Convertible Debt of $19 Mn as a part of this round. In addition to this, InnoVen Capital has extended an $8 Mn venture debt.

The company’s flagship Ather 450 opened for pre-orders in Bengaluru in June 2018 with deliveries beginning in September 2018. The scooters have piqued the interest of automobile and tech enthusiasts alike, selling out stocks till September 2019. Ather is now entering an aggressive expansion phase, with the opening of pre-orders in Chennai in the coming weeks, and eventually scaling to 30 cities by the end of 2023. Ather Energy begins setting-up its fast charging infrastructure across Chennai

Plans on setting-up a network 50-55 charging points by the end of 2019

Chennai/Bengaluru, May 16th, 2019: Ather Energy today announced the installation of their fast charging network, Ather Grid in Chennai. The city will see 50 - 55 Ather Grid points up and running by the end of the year. The fast charging network can be used by all electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers and this facility is being offered free of charge till the end of the year.

Chennai has 7 active fast charging Ather Points installed and is the second city in India to have Ather’s charging network. The company has partnered with progressive hosts including cafés, restaurants, tech parks, malls and gyms to reduce range anxiety and ease the adoption of electric vehicles in Chennai. The charging stations can today be found at Forum Vijaya mall, AtWorks and Bikes and Burgers, and other restaurants. The company continues to partner with more hosts which can offer EV owners easy accessibility and fit into their lifestyle.

With the installation of the charging network, Ather Energy officially makes its foray into the Chennai market. Following Ather Grid, the city will have its own experience centre - Ather Space - and pre-orders for Chennai will open in June. In the meantime, consumers can express pre-order interest on the company’s website to get early access to test rides and priority deliveries.

The charging network is supported by the Ather Grid app which allows all EV owners to locate and check the availability of the nearest charging stations in real-time. Ather Energy in its accelerated expansion phase targets to set-up 6500 charging points across the country by 2022.

As of May 2019, the Ather Grid network spans across 31 charging points across 24 locations in Bengaluru and 7 locations in Chennai.
