Shoolini University offer to share virtual classroom technology with other institutions

Mumbai, April 7, 2020: Himachal Pradesh based Shoolini University, which has taken the lead to be among the first to introduce virtual classrooms in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, has offered to share its expertise with other institutions keen to teach students online.
In line with the top global universities like Oxford and Harvard, the Trust-run Shoolini University has evolved a system through which lectures would be delivered through a special online platform.
The system has been developed by Aaddoo, an AI based Technology Company which has been working with the university for the last 6 months. Through the system the students are able to attend delivery of live lectures through virtual classrooms. They can ask questions and get answers in real time by using personal computers, laptops or smart phones; participate in real-time quizzes, polls, gamification etc. Further, based on artificial intelligence - over a period of time, insights on individual students are available.
Vice Chancellor Prof P K Khosla said that Aaddoo was already in the process of developing the system for the last six months. Efforts were then speeded up in view of the coronavirus outbreak and the necessity of shutting down educational institutions and other places which witness large gatherings.
The idea behind introduction of virtual classrooms was to save the academic semester of the students who have been asked to leave for their respective homes, Prof Khosla said.
The Vice Chancellor said the University would be happy to freely share the expertise with all institutions, including government schools and colleges, so that students of such institutions do not suffer due to a possible prolonged lockdown.

Shoolini University launches virtual classrooms

Mumbai, March 23: Himachal-based Shoolini University has taken a pioneering and innovative step in introducing e-classes and online learning for students in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
Lectures would be delivered through a special platform developed by faculty and students of the University through the Internet. The students would be able to attend the delivery of the live lecture through virtual classroom. They would also be able to ask questions and get answers in real time.
“We have introduced the system to protect the semester and ensure that the students do not suffer from postponed examinations and delayed graduation”, said Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla.
“All lectures will now happen as per the scheduled time table, albeit in virtual space. We shall ensure that not a single day of study should be lost and students should graduate on time”, he added.
Fortunately, Shoolini University researchers had been working on the online learning system for the last six months which was an extension of the e-Univ system already enforced in the University. Under the e-Univ system, lectures are recorded in a capsule form which can be accessed by students any time. The live lectures introduced now would be recorded and would also be available for the students later.
Prof Khosla said the new system would enable the students to interact with the lecturer who can make use of other technological tools such as graphs and power point presentations. The system includes provision for conducting examinations in a secure environment, he added.
