Suzuki Motorcycle India re-opens more than 50% of dealerships, resumes sales and service functions

·       Suzuki Motorcycle India resumes dispatch of product from May 18, and more than 50% dealerships re-opened as of May 21, 2020
·       5,000 new vehicles were sold and 50,000 vehicles have been serviced as of May 21, 2020
New Delhi, May 22, 2020: Marching ahead with relaxation in lockdown, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan has resumed its dispatch from May 18, and more than 50% of dealerships reopened as of May 22, 2020 in a phased manner across the country. Currently, 5,000 new vehicles have been sold and 50,000 vehicles have been serviced at dealerships.
Adhering to social distancing norms and safety measures, SMIPL has charted-out detailed precautionary guidelines for the dealerships ensuring continuity and smooth functioning without compromising on the wellbeing of workforce and customers.
Mr. Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are pleased to resume our retail and dispatch services in almost all parts of the country except those in containment zones as per the Government directives. We have prepared extensive Standard Operating Procedures for the dealerships which include frequent sanitization and practicing social distancing. We can assure our existing and potential consumers that it is entirely safe to enter the showrooms to buy new vehicles and get the existing ones serviced. Our utmost priority is to adhere to various preventive measure in order to maintain safe operational environment across functions. We thank our customers for their continued love and support for the brand in these challenging times as well. In addition, for the convenience of our customers, SMIPL also plans to introduce various customer friendly initiatives allowing easy ownership and extending support to our dealer partners.”
Riding ahead, Suzuki Motorcycle India plans to re-open remaining dealer network, while adhering to social distancing norms, implementing safety measures and introducing newer process to limit human interaction.

Suzuki Motorcycle India restarts its manufacturing plant in Haryana

New Delhi/ Gurugram, May 18, 2020: Ensuring the implementation of stringent safety norms and social distancing guidelines directed by the Government of India, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan today resumed production at its manufacturing facility at Kherki Dhaula, Gurugram. The company has commenced the operations after receiving permission from concerned authorities, by adopting detailed safety guidelines and safety measures for its employees.
After closely monitoring the situation to avoid any kind of Covid-19 spread, Suzuki Motorcycle India has charted detailed guidelines for all its employees which include social distancing, wearing of masks, periodic sanitization and avoiding movement in large groups among others. It has also installed disinfectant chamber for individuals to pass through it every day in order to prevent any infection and maintain a safe working environment.  
Mr. Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. said, “As Suzuki Motorcycle India restarts its plant operation, our priority is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees since we continue to fight the battle against Covid-19. At the onset, SMIPL will resume operation with limited workforce and will gradually shift to full production cycle as per the Government’s directive. We have implemented detailed operating guidelines with emphasis on social distancing to ensure maximum precautions are taken by all our employees. In order to overcome the challenges faced due to the ongoing situation, we also believe that it is necessary that we all stay together in high spirits by continuing to motivate each other”
It is to be noted that SMIPL suspended its plant operations from March 23, 2020 under the Government’s directives to follow the nationwide lockdown to avoid Covid-19 pandemic spread.

Suzuki Motorcycle India registers 5.7% growth in FY2019-20; Sold 40,636 units in March 2020

New Delhi, April 02, 2020: Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), the two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan concluded the fiscal year on a positive note by registering 5.7% growth over FY2018-19. Cumulatively, SMIPL sold 790,397 units from April 2019 – March 2020, compared to 747,506 units sold in the corresponding period last year.
Furthermore, Suzuki Motorcycle India registered 40,636 unit sales (Domestic + Exports) until March 22, 2020, that was followed by a production halt due to Covid-19 as per Government directives. In the domestic market, the company sold 33,930 units in March 2020.
Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are pleased to close this financial year on a positive note with 5.7% growth amid the precautionary measures taken in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. We attribute this growth to our dealer partners for their determination and exceptional support further translating into customer trust and love. At present, our first and foremost priority is to ensure the health and safety of the employees and all stakeholders. As the industry fights the Covid-19 pandemic by implementing shutdowns and taking precautionary measures, we believe that industry will overcome this difficult time and bounce back with positive growth in the coming months.”
The financial year marked Suzuki’s entry into the quarter-litre segment with the launch of all-new Suzuki Gixxer 250 series offering heightened performance with Suzuki Oil Cooling System (SOCS) developed exclusively for the Indian market. The year was fueled by numerous product launches across categories including the launch of all new Access 125 BS6 compliant model.
