Pipavav, India: APM Terminals Pipavav celebrated the International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2020. In keeping with the current social distancing norms, it was conducted through online platform. The program highlighting the health benefits of performing Yoga, was viewed across 30 villages around the port.
The online demonstration was conducted by Ms. Manju Jha, Founder, Mritunjay Yoga Institute, Raipur. The youngsters from the villages around the port were encouraged to practice yoga and explain the benefits of yoga to their family and friends. School students were engaged through online video sessions and they posted photograph of them in different asanas. The emphasis was on practicing yogic breathing exercises to calm down the body that will help in the prevention of COVID 19.
More than 1,000 people took part and were happy to learn the benefits of yoga. Volunteers were mobilised to popularise the Yoga Day celebrations keeping social distancing in mind.
This year marked the fifth edition of the International Day of Yoga and it is celebrated annually on June 21st as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.
