Rustomjee Kerawalla Foundation’s JNP
Vidyalaya (RKF JNPV) has successfully risen to meet challenges thrown at them
owing to the Covid-19 pandemic. The school has suitably adjusted to ensure
continuity in education while adapting to new methods of teaching formats.
Despite the lockdown-induced uncertainty,
the stellar performance in the SSC Examination remains commendable. The
students at RKF JNPV have achieved near 100% results in the exam held in March
2020. In fact, the pass percentage for the academic year 2019-2020 has shown significant
improvement in comparison to the previous academic year.
The pass percentages for Marathi and
English mediums for the academic year 2019-2020 stood at 98.75% and 97.78%
respectively. The pass percentage numbers remained exceptional when compared to
the academic year 2018-19, which was 87.7% for Marathi and 86.39% for English
mediums.
Despite the closure of the schools and without
any specific directive regarding the physical reopening, RKF JNPV did not let
the lockdown hamper the education of students. The school not only commenced
the new academic session on time in mid-June last year, but has also maintained
the academic continuity for the students. In this regard, WhatsApp groups were
created for each class and grades and topic-wise videos prepared by teachers
for the subjects taught, were uploaded on the platform regularly. Class and
home worksheets are being shared on the social media platform.
For the past one year, classes are being closely monitored and an
Academic Planner is being used to track teaching. A fortnightly report is
prepared which provides the status of teachers, activities being conducted and
issues, if any, at the school. The principal also has been conducting weekly
online meetings with the vice-chairman to discuss progress and concerns, if
any. Moreover, parents have been provided training to download the ‘Teno’
Application, which is now being used to communicate with the parents and keep
them updated.
Frequent visits are
conducted by the Academic Operations team to RKF JNPV to meet with the
section-heads and review the academic programmes being implemented, besides
resolution of any issues. For the secondary section, the classes remained in
progress using a video communication platform.
Considering the
constrained resources and the prevailing situation, RKF JNPV is leaving no
stone unturned when it comes to providing learning continuity and creating a
positive learning atmosphere in the bargain.
In 2021, plans are afoot
to roll out enterprise resource planning (ERP) software in order to monitor
student data and fee collections. In addition, the new ERP software will also
enable monitoring of lesson plans.
