93% of students return to The Scindia School

·         The school has laid down stringent protocols in place to ensure safety on campus

26 February 2021: The Scindia School, Gwalior, which reopened for Classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th recently after a long hiatus due to the pandemic has seen an overwhelming response from its students to come back on campus for the remaining school year. 93% of all students of the above-mentioned classes are back on campus. This is a testament of the faith parents have on the school and the staff to keep their children safe.

Scindia School has a well-considered re-entry plan in place to keep students, faculty, and other staff safe inside a “bubble.” Returning students found an appropriately regimented reception on campus that was both warm and safe.

Commenting on the same, Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat, Principal, The Scindia School said, "We are delighted to welcome our children back in the campus and are grateful for the faith shown by them and their parents in the school. The school has strong health and safety protocols in place and knows exactly who is inside the campus at any given time and why they are there. Our school is a home away from home. Students have 24-hour access to residential teachers for academic, social and emotional support.”

In a new twist to old procedures, campus reception involved COVID tests, temperature checks and an appropriate quarantine period, followed by entry into dorms and classes. Masks, social distancing, small meal settings and non-physical-contact sports is the ‘new normal’ in school.

Standard daily protocol includes sanitization of areas like the mess, the washrooms etc., along with monitoring personal cleanliness, ensuring intake of healthy diet and hygiene of all food.

The dormitories have been redesigned to maintain six feet distance between beds, and adequate number of soap dispensers and sanitizers have been installed across the entire campus. All washrooms and touch points such as desks, doorknobs, taps, floors, and switches are disinfected at least 3-5 times a day.

The students are instructed to remove their shoes outside the dormitories. All medicines to be taken by the students are under the supervision of House Pastoral Team. To de-congest the main school building and maintain safe distancing, the school morning assembly has been stopped, and classes and daily meals are in batches.

Commenting on the same, a class 12th student of The Scindia School said; “I am happy to be back at school. Though we did have regular online classes, but we could not do any science practical online. I also missed my friends, debates, dialogues and the spontaneity in class during teaching.”

The Scindia School was one of the earliest to begin on-line classes from March 2020 itself and this will continue until all students are back on campus. Apart from just delivering academic education, the school has also been conducting various co-curricular activities during the pandemic.

The 123 years old boys’ boarding school, has once again topped the rankings in the annual EducationWorld India School Rankings (EWISR) for the year 2020-21. The EWISR rankings are the largest of its kind in the world.
