Statement on withdrawal of Data Protection Bill | Sandip, Co- Founder & CEO of InstaSafe Technologies

The Indian government has withdrawn the Personal Data Protection Bill that was formulated in 2018 and re-written by the JCP in 2021. After considerable deliberation and examination of the JCP’s report, it was found that there is a need for a comprehensive redrawing of laws and rules taking into account some of the JCP’s comments and the emerging challenges and opportunities that arise from there.

In the above context, Sandip Kumar Panda, a veteran in the cybersecurity space & Co-Founder of Instasafe Technologies wanted to share his views on the development. Please find below his comments for your kind persual.
“Currently, we have a lot of tech companies operating globally and serving Indian users. It is necessary to have clarity in the data protection law on what sensitive data that organization can share with the Govt and what user data to be retained as confidential as part of data privacy. Data privacy shouldn’t be compromised for data protection. It is essential to have the right bill that supports the tech ecosystem rather than pushing a law in a short time span that creates more confusion.”
Please let us know if we can connect you to the Sandip for further discussion. He will be glad to share some more insights on the withdrawal of the cybersecurity bill and the sector at large.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
