The film follows the life of Gangaram who is about to risk his life for his people by getting killed by a tiger. This life-and-death drama heightened with doses of humor and an empathy for the plight of the community who are forced to take dire steps to fend for themselves. Pankaj Tripathi seen in a role like never before, as the bumbling Sarpanch and mighty savior, incorporates epic one-liners, classic charm, and courageous but innocent Gangaram. Sayani Gupta and Neeraj Kabi will also be seen in pivotal moments

In the film, we see actor quip, Baagh ko maarne nahi gaye the jungle mein, hum toh baagh se khud ka shikar karwane gaye the! Well, that proves his love for his people and the innocence which Gangaram swears by. The film also sees Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta in key roles.  Written and directed by National Award winner Srijit Mukherji, Sherdil perfectly balances some notable themes with unexpectedly philosophical bits rooted in everyday humor.

Talking about the World Television Premiere, Pankanj Tripathi said, "Since I have lived in a village, I could understand the roots of Gangaram. But what took time was understanding my character's specific behaviour. I played a very intriguing and layered character that helped me explore a different facet of myself as an actor. I always wanted to be a part of a film that shows the Man animal conflict, I was always concerned with the man and animal conflict, Sherdil gave me that opportunity. Moreover, Sherdil helped me to understand the emotions and vulnerabilities of my character. Working with talented actors like Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta was a great creative experience. We intended to make a good film and thoroughly enjoyed working together and discussing the craft.  Sherdil is a film that deserves to be seen by a larger, especially younger audience and we’re thrilled that &pictures is giving this film the platform”

Will Gangaram get the people of Jhundao out of their misery? Kya hoga Gangaram ka shikar?

Witness our very own “Sherdil” win hearts with the World Television Premiere of Sherdil - The Pilibhit Saga on 10th December at 10pm on &pictures to find out!
