Sahana Ahmed launches her new book 'Amity', an anthology of 95 peace poems

The masterpiece showcases poetry from around the globe 

29th December 2022, Gurugram: Poet and novelist Sahana Ahmed is delighted to announce the launch of an exceptional masterpiece, 'Amity: peace poems'. The book is an amalgamation of ninety-five poems by forty-seven writers from France, India, Israel, Japan, the Netherlands, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, curated by Ms Sahana Ahmed herself. These poems cover the five interrelated and interdependent spheres of peace: personal, social, political, institutional and ecological.

The visionary filmmaker, artist, poet and fashion designer, Mr Muzaffar Ali, and renowned author and columnist Ms Humra Quraishi honoured the launch with their gracious presence at Quill And Canvas Bookstore and Art Gallery. Ms Sahana Ahmed introduced the poems of award-winning writers from across the globe, with renowned poets Vinita Agrawal and Seema Jain, among others, doing readings of their work. 

Presenting the anthology, Ms Sahana Ahmed said, "The vision for this book was to bring together honest voices regardless of previous writing experience. I am grateful to G100 for giving me a platform as the India Country Chair of the World Peace Wing, where I am able to contribute to creating an equal, progressive and inclusive environment for women worldwide."

‘Amity: peace poems’ has been endorsed by Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha Mr Naveen Patnaik, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ms Ouided Bouchamaoui and Gandhian Padma Shri Agus Indra Udayana.

About Ms Sahana Ahmed

Sahana Ahmed is a poet and novelist based in Gurugram, India. She is the author of Combat Skirts (Juggernaut, 2018). Her short stories and poems have been published in leading international literary magazines and anthologies in India, the UK and the USA, among other countries. She founded the Rural Tourism Council for WICCI (Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry) as its first National President. She utilized the platform to launch Green Buddies, a countrywide Responsible Tourism campaign for school children. She is the India Country Chair for the World Peace Wing of the G100 Club. Sahana has been helping shine a light on remarkable women through her work as Category Lead for SheInspires Awards 2022 and the West Bengal Coordinator for RBTC (Rising Beyond the Ceiling), an initiative to highlight the achievements of Indian Muslim women. In March 2022, she joined SheLeads Academy as the Global Lead for their Leaders Library. Sahana has worked with leading universities and corporations in India as an English Language, Soft Skills and Creative Writing trainer. She was recognized among the 99 Achievers of India for the year 2021 by The Indian Achievers Club.
