24^thJuly 2020:After delivering hits like ‘Laal Bindi’, ‘I Love You’ and ‘Laal Chunariya’ VYRL Originals artist Akull is all set to release his next song ‘Bahana’ which is a three part story series, which follows his previous years hit ‘I Love You’.

The artist who has created a niche for himself in the industry is known for his unique sound & style is all set to give his fans a treat with his next single - Bahana. For an artist who wears multiple hats, Akull has not only sung and composed but also directed the music video of Bahana as Diffuni (Akull x Ankit Jayn).

Staying true to his style, Akull captures his unique soundscape along with MellowD’s beautiful lyrics encapsulating the perfect lockdown emotion.

Bahana denotes a feeling to all the couples who are away from their lovers and showcases the profound yearning to meet one another amidst lockdown. As the video unfolds, it takes you through a visual and emotional journey of the couple from happier times together and to a point where Akull is left reminiscing old memories waiting to be by his lover, Livia (who was also featured in ‘I Love You’). His restlessness and craving to see his lover during the lockdown urges him to write & dedicate this song to her in an age where everything is excessive. As the song ends, the video hints at a third part to the series to be released soon.

Together with Mellow D I was able to work on quickly completing the song to best highlight people’s emotions and with Ankit Jayn as Diffuni we shot and directed the video completely under lockdown, was surely challenging but loved the process. My team at VYRL Originals and I super confident about this one and I hope everyone enjoys and gives the song all the love & support as they have given me always.”

About Akull:

Akull is a singer, music composer and producer born and brought up in New Delhi. Whilst growing up, Akull was influenced by several artists across multiple genres and after graduating from high school; Akull then proceeded to start his musical journey. Akull first learnt how to play the piano which helped him understand music composition and he quickly followed up by learning production to gain an insight into music arrangement and programming. Taking his knowledge forward, Akull moved to Mumbai and began to compose music for radio jingles and advertisement commercials. Akull then quickly elevated his passion for music composition by composing for artists from Punjab and Delhi. He recreated and sung an old Qawwali song ‘Sanu Ik Pal’ in an R&B/Bollywood space which was released in 2014 as a tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Written, composed and produced by Bharatt-Saurabh, SaariRaat is a blissful serenade with a pop of urban Punjabi beats coupled with the warmth and soul of R&B tunes. VYRL COVERSTAR RECEIVES MORE THAN 2000 ENTIRES FOR INTEZAAR – MAKING IT THE BIGGEST EDITION EVER.

Mumbai, Dec’19: VYRL Coverstar is a unique initiative by VYRL Originals that bridges the gap between aspiring artists to the music stalwarts from the fraternity and with its every edition, VYRL Coverstar only gets bigger and better. 

In its most recent, (4th edition) VYRL Coverstar saw participation of more than 2000 digital entries, breaking the record of its previous editions. The judges of the VYRL Coverstar #Intezaar edition namely, Mithoon, Mohit Suri and Asees Kaur who are also the makers of the recent VYRL Originals track – Intezaar, handpicked 12 worthy finalists to come and perform live in front of them. The jury also included Mr. Vinit Thakkar, label head of VYRL Originals on the judging panel.

VYRL Coverstar – Intezaar edition was hosted at PVR, Juhu Mumbai on 10^th Dec where the finalists - Gucci Singh & Jasraj Singh, Maadhyam, Srushti Barlewar, Anurag Mohn, Sourav Dutta, Keerthana V., Harpreet Kaur, Mohammed Saleem, Sanish Nair, Nidhi Hegde were flown in from across the county wherein one of entrants, a 12-year-old talented boy, Shivam was found by Red FM from one of his singing video on the streets of Delhi that went viral.

Each finalist performed on 2 tracks and enthralled the audience with their breathtaking renditions of the songs. Harpreet Kaur, from Bareilly stood out amongst all the finalists to become the winner of the #Intezaar edition of VYRL Coverstar. The evening ended on a high note with Mithoon and Asees’s surprise performance leaving the crowd spell bound.

Talking about the finale of VYRL Coverstar, Mithoon shared, “The grand finale of VYRL Coverstar has been the most unique experience for me because as a composer I have put out so many songs, but once I finish a song I just move on to the other because of which there is a certain isolation and disconnect that comes between me and my songs. But here I am back to my song Intezaar after I put it out which has been there for more than a month. And I was delighted to see people come and perform for us from all over the country. We got to know that there were more than 2000 entries that came for this and to see the best 12 of them live who interpreted the song in different ways, to hear what they felt, what they thought about each line and put it out, it was very -very refreshing for me as a musician and that's why I couldn't hold back and I just picked a moment and jumped on the stage and I joined the musician team and I played it myself. I think Vinit, Mohit, Asees and I had a great time.”

Talking about VYRL Coverstar – Intezaar Edition, Mohit shared, “I had a great time watching all 12 finalists perform their versions of Intezaar, each being unique in its own way. There are a very few platforms like this which exist in our country that gives opportunities to budding musicians to showcase their talent in front of artists. I am happy that I was a part of this awesome evening that celebrated music.”

Mumbai, 7th November 2019: The creative trio of Mohit Suri, Mithoon and Arijit Singh famous for delivering superhit songs like ‘Tum Hi Ho’, ‘Humdard’, ‘Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahunga’ have come together for the very first time for a non-film song ‘Intezaar’.  This song is composed and written by Mithoon and features Bollywood favourites Arijit Singh and Asees Kaur. The video stars India’s beloved television stars Sanaya Irani and Gurmeet Chaudhary who bring alive the ballad in the larger than life music video.

The inspiration for the song comes from the yearning for ones love where you continue to live in hope, even after the relationship has ended.  Intezaar brings alive two contrasting sets of emotions; one where a person is living in hope that his love may return and the other where one has gracefully accepted the end and moved on. Arijit Singh and Asees Kaur have soulfully expressed these emotions in their inimitable style.

Directed by Arif Khan, the music video depicts the highs and lows of a relationship through contemporary dance interlaced with poignant storytelling. Mohit Suri, with his creative vision and inputs, has been instrumental in creating a one-of-its-kind non film musical experience. 

Speaking about Intezaar, Mithoon says “Mohit and I always like to work on a thought when it comes to any song. He gave me the idea to come up with a song which talks about yearning and hoping against hope. I responded by giving him this melody and he got very excited about it. He initially wanted to use it in Aashiqui 2, but later on, we both felt it wasn’t fitting in the narrative of the film. Time passed but we both held on to this song very dearly in our hearts. Even Arijit would keep asking me about where are we going to use it. Earlier this year, VRYL Originals approached me to do a project with them and Mohit kept pushing me to do something in the non-film space. I reworked on the entire structure of the song and added the voice of Asees Kaur, who I think elevated the song with her honesty. Finally, it all came together as a true musical experience”

Speaking about this latest release, Mohit Suri says “Mithoon and I have an association that goes back two decades. Whenever we have worked on music it has never meant to be delivered as a superhit but just something that we both believe in. I have been after Mithoon to do something in the non-film music space because I believe his music is beyond films. I am very happy that Arijit and Asees have lent their voice to this composition. I had a certain vision for this song and Arif Khan has taken the video a notch higher. Both Gurmeet and Sanaya have not just enacted the video but felt every word of the song. I believe and Mithoon will agree on this with me that every song has its own fate and this song belongs to a platform like VYRL Originals. Thank you Vinit and Devraj for this musical experience.”

Speaking about the song, Asees Kaur says “I was roped in at a very last stage of this project. Mithoon Sir was looking for a female voice and that's when Vinit from VYRL Originals recommended me to Mithoon Sir for which I will be grateful to him forever. I've always wanted to sing for Mithoon Sir and to start off with a project which is so close to him, Mohit Sir and my personal favourite Arijit Singh is a dream collaboration for me. I'm glad Mithoon Sir & Mohit Sir both felt that my voice did justice to the song and the emotion they were looking for. I also love the way the video is shot where Gurmeet & Sanaya have done an amazing job. And like everyone says, this song is an amazing Musical Experience as a whole.”
