Puducherry, 09 November 2019: The Study- L’école Internationale School, Dr. K M Cherian’s Educational society at Kalapet, Puducherry, recently celebrated Phytovita 2019 – a science fest, as a part of their Science Week Celebrations. The campus, run by Dr. K. M. Cherian Educational Society, portrayed the image of a mega science lab during the fest, and culminated a week-long of activities and competitions at their premises. The science fest was also graced by Dr. S. Periandy, Associate Professor, KMCPGS.
Students from various classes presented research papers and posters on several topics. Students of class 12 also fabricated an eco-friendly plastic tile, made from recycled plastics, sand and cement. Projects on green technology, water conservation, organic farming, robotics, fun with science were created, and the students of class 11 constructed a battery-operated 'campus rider' with indigenous technology. Seventh graders created a working model of a smart city.
Mini farms comprising of herbal plants, fruits, vegetables and other trees, were also set up the students. A venture into entrepreneurship by the children through the formulating and selling organic and aromatic handmade soaps, oils and candles, was also very well received at the fest. A sensory garden, magnifying the presence of different sensory stimuli in nature was applauded for its uniqueness, as well.
The Zodiac garden, which was geometrically laid out with plants based on different zodiac signs were well-appreciated by the guests. Navagraha Vatika or garden is used to get the power of Navagraha. It protects the vastu from the malefic effects of 9 planets. It energizes the vastu where the plants are planted. It gives the person Healthy and Wealthy life. With his immense love for plants, Dr. K. M. Cherian, Chairman, meticulously designed the various plant environs in the green campus since the inception of The Study.
Commenting on the same, Dr. K. M. Cherian, Founder and Chairman, The Study- L’école Internationale School said, “I am extremely proud that our school has harboured such a skilful and talented lot of students. It gives me immense joy in knowing that our children will make their paths of life to ensure a better future for each and every one of us. Moreover, I strongly believe that technology and its optimum utilization is important to nurture young minds who shall be the leaders of tomorrow.”
As Einstein said qualifications without imagination is not much of value to the life, what we have done in the school is to create imagination in children along with qualification.
Further commenting, Alice Abraham Chacko, Principal at The Study- L’école Internationale School said, “Our school has always motivated our students to continue being inquisitive and futuristic. At The Study- L’école Internationale, we have always embarked on a journey to encourage our students to make the best use of technology to impart education so that they’re able to tackle the future.”
Students from several private and government schools also visited the science fest to witness the exhibits. The children from Anandarangapillai Government Special School for Visually Handicapped & Hearing Impaired, Pillaichavady were the special invitees for the day. The interaction of students from different schools was beneficial for both the hosts and the visitors.
The judges lauded the effort and talent of the students and the unique experiential learning process created by teachers through this event. Dr. S. Periandy also stressed the importance of such fests in creating future researchers and scientists. Moreover, he also appreciated original thinkers who can be problem solvers is the need of the hour. Prizes were also awarded to the best projects and presentations in each category.
