Renowned
cyclists such as Amit Samarth, The Mahajan Brothers, Himanshu Kumar and many others
too will be participating in this innovative and exciting event. Nagpur based
Amit Samarth cycled 5000 kilometers in the 2017 Race Across America. Besides this, Tour de France is the only event that comes to mind when you think
of cycling. But it is the Trans-Siberian Extreme (TSE) race that is measured to
be the most difficult cycle race around the globe. Till September 2018, no
Asian had ever finished on the podium but it was Dr Amit Samarth from Nagpur
pedalled his way through the competition and created history. The doctor
brothers, Hitendra and Mahendra Mahajan have outdone themselves again as they
finished the 6,000km cycle ride across the Golden Quadrilateral of India on
Thursday. First to finish the 4,800km Race Across America last year, the
cyclist brothers have applied for the Guinness Book of Records for the current
ride. At 15, an accident made Himanshu Kumar immobile and crushed his dreams of
becoming a cricketer. He was barely 15 and with one cruel stroke his whole life
turned upside down. He was bedridden for a year depending entirely on his
father to carry him back and forth from the hospital. After being terribly
injured he was mocked and made fun of, however Himanshu’s determination
surpassed it all. In 2015 he purchased a cycle and soon fell in love with
cycling. He has covered cycling from Delhi to Mumbai covering 1500 km in 15
days. Himanshu Kumar has proven to be an inspiration to all of us. By visiting www.cycleforgood.com,
participants can take up various challenges from a day to a year, a number of
hours to a number of kilometres to be cycled depending on the age group. These
parameters have been set differently for age groups of 3 years to 7 years, 8
years & above and 14 years & above. The participants need to record
their challenges via devices or mobile applications such as Google, Strava,
Garmin, GOQii, Fast Track, Runkeeper or any other app that can record all the
given cycling parameters. Starting from a minimum amount of Rs. 350 + GST as
registration charges, one can choose an affiliated NGO from the given list
where they would like to make a charity. On finishing the task, the
participants will be entitled to receive gratifications such as Digital
Certificate of participation, Neck Multi Wear, T- Shirt, Medallion and lots of
other exciting goodies depending on the challenge the participant may have taken
up.
“YouTooCanRun is a very successful platform
and we are glad that more and more enthusiasts are joining the platform every
year where they are taking their health and fitness seriously. Cycle For Good
is an initiative that is an alternate form of mass participation sports
activity which is inspired by the concept of "Doing Good". When you
indulge in any physical activity, you become fit and healthy and end up
"Doing Good for Yourself!" While you do good for yourself, you can
cycle in "Cycle For Good" and do good for others, by directly and
indirectly contributing to an array of causes that you believe in and can
support!
Along with it
being a fun recreational activity for all age groups, cycling boosts stamina,
improves fitness, helps combat illness and has very low impact on the joints
compared to other physical exercises. While it is an eco-friendly and economic
mode of transport it is also a time-efficient activity”, Mr. P. Venkatraman, CEO and Founder of YouTooCanRun Sports Management Company
