May 3, 2022– Today, Condé Nast Traveller U.S.,
U.K., Spain, and India jointly announce the winners of its annual Hot List revealing the best new hotels
from around the world. This is the first year editors at all seven editions
worldwide had a hand in scouting and selecting the entries.
And because (almost) no hotel is an island,
we’ve widened the lens in 2022 to include the restaurants, culture,
transportation, and cruises you need to know, and the destinations that are
reinventing themselves. The full list of winners can be found online at U.S, U.K, SPAIN, INDIA and celebrated
in the May/June (U.S.), June (U.K.), August (India), and May/June (Spain)
issues rolling out on newsstands over the coming months.
Highlights from this year’s list include:
5 of India’s hotels are part of this
prestigious list. Six Senses Fort
Barwara arrived with a bang, with the A-list Bollywood wedding of Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif, rumored to be making its way to Netflix soon. It
took almost a decade for this 700-year-old fort to be converted into a 48-suite
hotel, but it’s been worth the slog. Raffles
Udaipur ticks many boxes: It’s family-friendly, surrounded by nature, has
great food and drinks, and offers a whole host of activities that will keep you
and your tribe busy. Karan Mahal
is possibly the most charming, non-palace royal residence you’ll visit in
India: just seven rooms, on 60 acres of forest and fruit orchards above the Dal
Lake in the heart of Kashmir’s capital, Srinagar. For wildlife enthusiasts,
whether they’re couples, friends, or family groups, the sightings are abundant
and a 15-minute drive away lies Sher
Bagh, a spoiling and imaginatively put-together 12-tent abode that keeps
you planted firmly under the spell of the jungle. Aramness Gir is Sassan-Gir’s newest and arguably best safari lodge,
where Asiatic lions and leopards periodically stroll by.
Cruises which are back in a big way. Feel a bit of magic when you set sail on Enchanted Princess, one of Princess’s Medallion Class ships. New expedition line Atlas Ocean Voyages is dedicated to preserving the hard-to-reach parts of the planet it brings passengers so close to.
As we continue the conversation on
sustainability Charcoal Fish in
Sydney is a top restaurant well worth mentioning. Guests dine on line-caught yellow
tuna and sustainably farmed native Australian Murray cod served as burgers,
“wings,” and classic filets with chips. Other notable restaurants include Sapiens in Lima and Potong in Bangkok which each serve as
an homage to vital ancestral cooking and cultural influences.
Becoming immersed in different cultures
around the globe is one of the best parts about traveling, which is why culture
was incorporated into the 2022 Hot List. Experience the rich history of Kyoto,
Japan while staying at the tranquil Shinsho-an,
or become immersed in the heart of a major city like Dubai or Los Angeles. 25hours Hotel One Central is one of
Dubai’s more intriguing hotels and enjoy learning about select items from
memorable films at L.A.’s Academy Museum
of Motion Pictures.
The CNT editors went above and beyond
with our 27th annual Hot List which contains all you need to plan the perfect
trip for 2022 and beyond.
