From Real to Reel: Veteran Journalist Manoj Raghuvanshi in Conversation with Director Vivek Agnihotri

Uncover the Hidden Truth of the Kashmir Genocide

For the first time, a real journalist who reported from Kashmir in 1991 will be in conversation with the director

Ever since the release of The Kashmir Files, the film has stirred the masses and set social media on fire. The film firmly focusses on the barbarities meted out to the Kashmiri Pandits in the valley. While it has got praises from several quarters, a section has also called it out for leaving out ‘the other side of the story’. Director Vivek Agnihotri, who is known to speak his mind will be on the social media platform Khul Ke and for the first time will be in conversation with Manoj Raghuvanshi, who was one of the few journalists who reported from ground zero during the massacre. Khul Ke will host a RoundTable on 17th May at 4PM on their platform titled, Kashmir Konversations and will see the director and veteran journalist indulge in a free-wheeling, explosive chat that will uncover unheard and hidden facts from the onslaught.  Khul Ke, is touted at elevating conversations and is the only platform to allow video, audio and text-based conversations amongst moderator & panelists as well as audience. The platform lays its foundation in the ‘power of conversations’ and urges artists, influencers, entrepreneurs, brands, consumers, your friends, or like-minded individuals to engage in meaningful conversations

Manoj Raghuvanshi has been a journalist for over twenty-five years. He started his career in the year 1978 with youth programmes and went onto host, Newstrack, which was India's first video news magazine. In 1991, Manoj Raghuvanshi interviewed Bitta Karate, a militant who was accused of the gruesome killing of the pandits. The character of Yasin Malik in The Kashmir Files is based on this militant. It will be the first time ever a that a real journalist who had witnessed and reported from ground will speak to the director, who has been lauded for showcasing the atrocities in the valley after decades.

Vivek Agnihotri on being interviewed by Manoj Raghuvanshi shared" I am quite excited to be interviewed by Manoj, who is one of India’s most noteworthy journalists and also happens to be the one who interviewed the notorious militant ‘Bitta Karate’. Manoj has reported from on ground in Kashmir in 1991, when the genocide happened. He has not just witnessed but had actually put his life at risk to report from the valley. So, I am looking forward to this free-wheeling conversations where we can discuss some unheard incidents and facts from the era and how The Kashmir Files came about.” He further adds, ‘Khul Ke is a platform for anybody who wants to have uninhibited conversation, share opinions or be a part of discussions without hesitation. It is a delight for conversation lovers and I am really looking forward to interact with Manoj and also the audiences.”
