International Day of Nurses is celebrated globally every year on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. This year it follows the theme “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health”.
The last two years have shown that large-scale investments in the nursing profession are needed to ensure the quality of global health. As possibly the most important cog in the wheel of healthcare, nurses regularly go above and beyond to deliver safe critical care in a highly skilled manner every day. Their diversified role in the workplace makes them truly the backbone of the healthcare system.
We at St. George’s University, School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies are thrilled to honour all the nurses assisting our doctors and would like to wish all the nurses in the world a very happy International Nurses Day.
