Mishru presents their spring/summer ’20 collection
As a label, Mishru has been defined by its quest for the extraordinary amongst the ordinary. This season, the label blends the rational and the irrational by celebrating the weird and the whimsical. Titled ‘Synthesis’, the spring/summer 2020 collection juxtaposes marbling with existing surface techniques in the label’s signature style. The start-to-finish handmade process is an ode to the dynamic phenomenon of marbling which creates beautiful, one-of-a-kind surfaces.
With no two pieces alike, the laborious technique of marbling finds a canvas on a wide array of fabrics, including georgette, organza, tulle, dupione and chanderi. The lineup expresses the romanticism at the heart of the label with soothing hues such as basil green, charcoal, rosewood, ultramarine blue, and dusty purple. The hand-marbled fabric is accentuated with intricate hand embroidery, featuring a mix of thread and zardozi embroidery. Through this collection, the label seeks to evolve its repertoire, silhouette, construction, and fall, leading to a more exuberant vision for the season ahead.
To that end, it would be great if you could feature this in your round-up stories for LFW. Please feel free to get in touch with us should you require any additional images. We would be happy to help you with the same.
MISHRU
– Profile
Luxe Indian wear finds new expression in
Mishru’s exquisite designs
Nuanced
design elements and cultural coherence serve as the highlight of Mishru, an Indian wear label with its
finger on the sartorial pulse of the modern Indian woman. And it is this keen
understanding of what the girl of today truly wants that has proved to be the
trump card of founder and designer, Swapna
Anomolu’s contemporary offering.
Having
completed her Bachelors of Technology
from College of Engineering, Guindy in Chennai, Swapna shifted gears
when she found her true calling in designing embellished masterpieces in dreamy pastels and chic neutrals.
Based in Hyderabad, the label
started out in 2015 with a vision of serving up a unique amalgamation of modern
design elements juxtaposed against traditional aesthetics, thereby deriving the
name, ‘Mishru’ that translates into ‘a mix or fusion of elements’. Fluid yet
bold silhouettes take form in a palette of muted colours to bring Swapna’s
dream of minimalist luxury to life.
The
journey to designing Indian wear has been a long one, but it was made easier by
Swapna’s crystal clear focus on the women she designs for. “The Mishru girl
takes the best of everything and makes it her own. She is strong, bold and is
able to pull off anything she wears,” she explains. It is this ability to
understand, create and deliver on what women want today that has helped her
grow the label from strength to strength, and flourish from a small design
studio to a thriving label with a loyal base across the key metro cities in the
country.
Speaking
on what she’s got lined up for Autumn/Winter‘18, Swapna says, “This season, we
want to blur the line between what’s acceptable as Indian wear and what’s not.
Disco has served as a major inspiration for the collection, as the 1970s were
all about retaining a sense of individuality and not conforming to the usual.
Sparkling under a disco ball is how we imagine these clothes.”
