JairangamFringes Theatre Festival 1st time in Mumbai a 3-day theatre festival

·         3M Dot Bands in collaboration with the Ministry of Art & Culture, Government of India in association with Mukkti Foundation will be hosting Jairangam Fringes Mumbai 2019 for the first time ever.

·         Mumbai will host 6 plays from 15th December 2019 to 17th December 2019, presenting a diverse range of theatre forms from all over the nation. 

Mumbai: The financial capital is all set to shine under the spotlight withJairangam Fringes theatre festival, being held in Mumbai for the first time. 3 M Dot Bands in collaboration with the Ministry of Art and Culture, Government of India in association with Mukkti Foundation is organizing a 3-day theatre festival from 15th December 2019 to 17th December 2019 at Mukkti Cultural Hub.The city is known for its traditional values and aesthetic sense of performing arts.Therefore, Mumbai boasts of a sizeable theatre loving population who may take this chance to experience a variety of folk, national, and thriller plays.

The mega event will showcase 6 classic theatre plays such as “The Way I see It” (Shiv Subrahmanyam), “Pitaji Please” (Makrand Deshpande), “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (Hardik Shah), “Baanswada Company” (Niresh Kumar), “Hum GunahgarAuretein” (Sadiya Siddiqui) and “Ballygunge 1990” ( Atul Satya Koushik). Jairangam Theatre festival may be attended by renowned actors Makarand Deshpande, Divya Jagdale, Rakesh Bedi, Udbhav Ojha, Pawni Pandey, Sadiya Siddiqui to name a few.

Deepak Gera, Director of Festival, Jairangam Fringes says, “The magic of art and theatre has the power to transform an audience, an individual, or enmasse, to transform them and give them an epiphany experience that changes their life, opens their hearts and their minds and the way they think.Jairangam started with an aim to celebrate diversity and to uplift the scenario of theatre in Jaipur and Rajasthan. The previous 7 seasons proved to be tremendously successful and the 8th edition was another feather in the cap.In view that the dream that Jairangam weaved for Jaipur is now a reality, it plans to weave the same dream for other states in the country – Maharashtra, Kolkata, and Karnataka.”

16-Dec	4.00 pm	KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Duration: 90 minutes Language: Hindi Kiran, a cross dresser woman accused of sexual crimes & Divay is a political prisoner. Their escapades in prison, their exchanges, altercations and how they bide their time to cope with the tough times in jail. These tow unlikely allies end up as friends ,afterall! Or do they really…is Kiran having an ulterior motive in befriending Divay…. Has she struck a deal with the prison authorities…	HARDIK SHAH
	7.00 pm	BAANSWADA COMPANY Duration:1 hour 30 minutes Language: Hindi and Rajasthani Baanswada Company, a theatre group based in Rajasthan revolves around director Bhalchand who wishes to achieve excellence in stagecraft and perform plays of Shakespeare. He puts forward his lofty ambitions before his father Khayali Ram Whether he succeeds in his lofty ambitions & how do the lives of the actors of his Company unravel is depicted realistically in the play. It also focuses on the trials & tribulations of leading actor Ghanshyam--- woven into the complex tapestry of emotions…. 	7.00 pm	BALLYGUNGE 1990 Duration: 90 mts compelling suspense thriller Language: Hindi This is a co-production of The Film& Theatre Society &Land of Culture. Set in the year 1990, it portrays the ever evolving and ever-changing relationship between the two protagonists Kartik and Vasuki.After a ten year long association, Kartik leaves Vasukito head for Mumbai in search of his dreams.Vasuki marries artist Binoy Das but carries the burden of her past & her failed relationship…She invites Kartik for coffee on the occasion of Durga Puja… What transpires….
